Damned RPS articles have made me resub. You can only stop, you can never quit....

Anyway, I'm terribly out of the loop. Would the dear S&M forum be so kind and fill me in on the changes?

What weapon systems got changed? What ships? What fits are no longer/again/newly viable? Caldari/Minmatar focus, mostly.

Thanks!

There has been an effort to remove tiers and rebalance ships, T1 Cruisers and Frigs went through a massive rehaul, Caldaris T1 frigate lineup is awesome right now, the Caracal is also really good, Minmatar ships are no longer king of the hill and things like the Rifter and Rupture have been dethroned massively. T1 logistics cruisers and frigs were introduced. A new line of destroyers was introduced.

As mentioned HMs took a swing from the nerfbat, HAMs (and all short range missiles) were buffed through making the GMP and TNP skills effect them as well as a PG buff for HAMs.

There's a whole load of things, other people will fill you in on the things not mentioned, or you can read the devblogs one by one =P

The list of change things would have like 200 talking points..

Go look it up yourself :P

Biggest issues woudl be ship rebalance and crimewatch though i guess.

BYDI recruitment closed-ish

in addition to the above...

faction warfare got overhauled

agression mechanics got overhauled

bounties work now, also overhauled

NPC AI got overhauled, they all switch targets now, like incursion rats and sleepers

massive graphical updates, cool stuff. You'll notice the info panels when you undock, those are cool. Also, the fleet window is now drag n' drop.

mining barges got totally reworked, and there's a single ORE mining frigate (old racial mining frigs are now logi frigs)

new line of destroyers AND battlecruisers (destroyers are either missile or drone ships, new BC's have cruiser tank and battleship gank...good times)

hybrids got buffed, including hybrid-using hulls

there are now very powerful local rep modules that use charges, either to fuel the module (shield/cap charges) or massively increase its effectiveness over T1 (armor/nanite paste)

Drone damage amplifier...a drone damage module. Domis are really scary now.

micro jump drive module, catapults you 100km ahead, speed is preserved...battleships only

T2 versions of a lot of modules that previously had none

titans can't doomsday subcaps anymore, supers can't launch regular drones

anoms got reworked a bit

Rogue drones no longer drop alloys...no loot at all actually, though they have bounties now. Drone regions are, understandably, not coping well. Also, officer drone modules ftw.

Incursions got nerfed to hell, then tweaked, then un-nerfed some....still in the process of picking up steam again

time dilation (was that in the last year?)...basically, instead of lag we get slow-mo. Pretty cool.

Could go on listing things for quite a while. Basically, eve went up a few meta levels.

edit: look at the features listed in the various expansions that have come out since you left- http://www.eveonline.com/expansions/

Hmm, I like most of these.

HAMs seem more viable now.

Graphics are cool.

UI looks nice, the higher level of feedback is a huge boon.

Single-mod active tanking with cap management, as opposed to booster and cap booster? Sign me on.

Salvager drones.

Finally not just a database error.

Mehhh not really to be honest, use them in a BS and you sacrifice DPS meaning lower ticks that the salvage doesn't make up for, use them in a noctis and they have this really bad habit of going to the wrecks closest to your ship....the ones you happen to already be salvaging.

They need work still, we'll leave it at that.

For mining ships (barges, exhumers, venture), the ore goes into the new ore hold. Don't think you're putting the asteroid chunks into the cargo hold. In the case of the venture, if you mine gas, the gas goes into the ore hold.
