This is a link to a somer blink application for a staff vacancy. Please take a minute to read.

Essentially they are paying someone (with isk) for their time and services. Is this allowed?

I mean obviously there is a case to argue both ways, but is CCP setting a precedence here? Obviously a part of this service and employment will be out of game using software that is not of CCPs design.

Not arguing one way or the other, just wondering what peoples thoughts are.

It's isk for an Eve service, like how CCP used to condone isk for forum sigs in the old forums.

Yes it's a grey area (which eve has a vast amount of), but this clearly doesn't cross the line.

Really... the first response and already you're being THAT guy.

They are asking to use software and address issues OUTSIDE CCPs domain. Obviously it is closely linked with the game, but it's not under CCPs control (supposedly) ... sounds like a slippery slope.

To the OP:

It is allowed to pay for game related service with ISK. Many do this.

And additionally I do not see any cause why this should be forbidden - maybe you should elaborate.

People get paid in ISK to do many things in and out of game:

- Donations for running radio stations
- Donations for FCing
- Donations for running betting services
- Donations for setting up and running forums
- I'm even sure there are probably some roleplayers out there that donate for cyber

What isn't allowed is isk -> money transfers or Money -> isk transfers thats known as RMT

Hell I've heard of people paying isk and plex to their web admins for corp forums. Its still tangentially eve related so its allowed.

There are a number of Eve in-game businesses in which "employees" get rewarded with ISK for performing stuff in-game, and Somer Blink is one of them. That said, if you believe you have found behavior which violates game rules, please petition it. The forum is not the right venue to report this or to get a GM to look at this.
