I'm not sure if this topic was touched upon but I would like to be able to change my ships appeirence...even be able to place my Corp logo on my ship as I have seen lots of Vids where PvP pilots instruct you to look at your target to get a sence of the weapons the person has fitted.

By doing this your able to see the Corp. logo on the ships structure like on the ORE barges.

Pirate Factions would also enjoy this feature as it will allow them to "Fly their Colors"...so to speak...as it were of Pirates of old.

Many people have mentioned this, many people are in favor of being able to do this.

I am sure it will happen some day, but I dont think its on top of the list for CCP just yet.

I wouldn't mind being able to give my ships a unique paint job or two...

My Bhaalgorn needs more blood on it.
Also I would like to add cheese on the Avatar. Cauliflower without cheese is just criminal.

Well, if we are talking of custom paints, that means a ton of downloading for everyone meeting your ships in space, so that's not gonna fly probably. In fact, even corp logos (while I like the idea to slap them onto ships if desired) and character portraits aren't that quick to load already whn you access their profiles in-game already, so I'm afraid that even such small touch isn't realistic at the moment.

As long as i can turn your crappy paint jobs and irrelevant corp logos off on my end, go for it.

The last thing I want to see is a million hello-kitty or MLP themed ships. EVE is pretty, letting players dictate what their ships look like on my client would literally kill it for me.

This. CCP already stated that EVE Online needs a coherent design vision, or it might destroy the game experience for some players. The above Hello Kitty example shows how this feature could be abused.

Giving the ships custom paint jobs is out of the question. However, the ability to put the corp/alliance logos on the hulls is not a problem. I think, this will be implemented sooner or later.

In one of the Art round tables at Fanfest, a few people were asking for the logos and so on. We discussed the risk of Hello Kitty ships....

Then CCP showed us damage decals and similar. From this point on everyone was like "sod these logos, give me decals!"

It looked awesome :D

Given that a corp logo consists of max 3 symbols (selected out of set of 164) and max 3 colors (selected out of set of 16) it can be coded into 5 bytes and the rendering is rather straight forward. A programmer turning this into a performance issue should be fired immediately

The art panel at Fanfest did talk about placing corp logo's on ships. I do hope they would also implement the ability to pay to change skins on our ships. These skins are already on some of our ships like the special destroyers and can even be expanded upon, so I would think it would be easier to add to the game.

CCP could make a nice isk sink at say 5m isk for frigates, 15 for cruisers, 45 for BS, and 90 for caps. I would pay that extra isk to have Interbus, Ultramarines, Quafe, or any of the dozens of others that could be made on my ship.

I found another great pic from CCP.

One thing they could do would be to add ship skins to the LP stores.

3-4 different sizes, small for frigs and dessies, medium for cruisers and BCs and large for BSs. Capitals would use either large as well or have their own XL size.

The colors of the skin simply depends on the faction/corp it's from.

CCP might have to add special skins to those factions that don't have any yet, and add skins as a possible loot drop (bunch of paint cans) for those factions that doesn't have LP stores, like EoM.

This wouldn't give us full customization, but we would be able to for example make a roden colored raven or an amarr navy colored dominix.

Liked your post for the idea and also for the character name. Cool

This is often brought up, supported by many, and CCP has acknowledged that they would like to implement something like this in the future. However, when their choices are between fixing/improving/rebalancing gameplay and letting players paint dongs on their ship, many ships sadly must fly dong-free.

Maybe for "special" skins like zebra stripes or neon-pink.
