So I have been training my two characters, one for combat and one for mining. My CEO told me i should train my certs to standard for my ship types , weapon types, and tank types. Is this a good way to begin build my char? Right now I am basicly going down the list made by evemon training the quickest first. I figure this way i wont be wasting too much time on useless lvl 5. The only lvl 5s i focused on are my core comp standard ones.

I would stick with what you're doing over chasing certs.

I stick to the certs as a good guideline then tweak the skill cue towards my priorities... keeps my character(s) happy.

I second this, I've been building the same way. The core certs seem like a decent guide early on, so I've been mostly following them with some tweaks to suit my more immediate needs
