Does anyone else feel disappointed by fanfest?

I mean Dust 514 seems to be taking major leaps forward with the new graphics, game modes, weapons, links to EVE etc.

Whereas the upcoming Odyssey expansions seems to consist of tweaks to database tables (mining changes), a new way to see existing content (discovery scanner) and a few ship re-skins and modifications. No mention at all of modular POS's, ring mining, and direct X 11 tessellation.

Does anyone else feel short-changed by this?

Nope, not at all.

CCP is getting their house in order so we can start having nice things again.

I'd rather they take their time...one incrana is enough. Dust is new so...it should have new stuff Cool. Impatience + eve = bad time (usually)

We currently have the world's greatest linguists and scientists trying to decode what you just said.

If I cared I would have been disapointed. It was midly entertaining, but beyond the symphony, I was not really impressed by all the talk about Dust.

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

I fear you are alone in this, brave rebel.

Since DUST 514 currently has two game modes which are played on about three or four maps, using four dropsuits and a handful of weapons, I figure it's about time the Dust Bunnies got all the bits and bobs they need to play a real game as opposed to a beta.

How can you resent CCP for finishing the game that they started?

And ice fields being moved to anomalies, grav sites being moved to anomalies, a change to the way hacking and archaeology work, rebalancing to a swathe of ships to effectively give us back these ships that haven't been used for far too long … we are getting a lovely grab bag of new game play.

I think a great many EVE players have been spoiled rotten by the Apocrypha expansion. I think CCP added far too much in one expansion, and that has set the bar far too high for future expansions in order to satisfy the bitter vets.

Dust 514 needs great leaps. Like Incredible Hulk type great leaps just to get to 6th or 7th on the list of games I play on the PS3.

Nope I'm pleased. I rather they take their time and make quality work then churn out stuff quickly that's crap.

I'd rather slow changes then one big broken mess of changes.

Besides they are moving toward taking Dust out of beta, so large sweeping changes are to be expected from a game "still in development".

i dont think dust looks as pretty as eve, that might be just cause of the ps3 console and maybe ps4 will really make it shine.

also, stargate transitions

Is this about Fanfest or Odyssey?

Didn't go to fanfest but watched the HD stream. Little in the way of new or even R&D content, which is a shame, but I loved the vision and IP announcements. If I could take time off work for Fanfest I would go. I've been to Iceland before and I love the country. It's a fantastic place with great people.

Odyssey did initially seem underwhelming from a new content point of view. Lots of things I was hoping for are delayed until Winter (new POS, starsystems, corp decals, updates to ships I regularly fly and see, new overview UI, new nozzle effects, drone UI fix, more skybox backgrounds, system lighting etc.). Still, the jump effect looks great, exploration and ice changes look great, I can't wait to fly the tweaked T1 ships and the sec for tags feature is long overdue. The possibility of improved textures seems near, will download as soon as I can.

The new 5yr vision for EVE looks fantastic. Go CCP!

Maybe not disappointed but I admit to having hope to hear about some big juicy feature being announced for Odyssey, something from whole palette of "we think about it but nobody is working on it now" kind of things. And when Hilmar asked if we want THE DOOR to open I was like "o frakk, they did...", and they didn't of course.

But on the other hand I really hope their internal state of things is as great as they say and from now on expansions will be full of awesome. Not only "frigs are sexy again" kind of awesome but really really breath-taking-reach-to-the-stars-and-choke-those-sparkling-bastards-lights-out ossumsouce.

I'm not disappointed. Dust got alot of new staff, but dust is linked to EVE so generally if dust get new staff so do we.
And it's hard to speak about how Odyssey changes affect EVE because it's not installed yet. We'll see.

Quite the opposite. I'm looking forward to Odyssey because its going to make getting my irl friends into eve that much easier.

Was gonna joke and say prolly everyone that hoped to get laid and didn't - but maybe just me lol

Besides that though, best fanfest to date imo. Although fanfest for me is more about meeting people rather than what CCP announces.

I like that they are taking there time, but the rebalancing of ships is loooooong over due.

sometimes you can take too much time to do the right thing.
