A million dollars or not, what do you think about it?

I probably wouldn't do it just because this is a private thing not looking for the best people so it's going to end in disaster

You have an issue with launching incompetent people off the planet? On a no return flight?

When I first heard of this, my first through was the Golgafrinchamians on the B Ark.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

No planet should be colonized until there a way found to be profitable. Think of planets like Antarctica. Interesting? Yes. Research worthy? Yes. Useful to try to put a thriving population on? Not in a long shot.

If it can be seeded with engineered bacteria that will convert the atmosphere to breathable, then it may be profitable.

That you find the idea of staying scary is what I find scary.

If only I were younger, or if the people I knew actually cared about this. Oh I would so be trying to get into that. Sadly, I have too much invested on Earth to leave permanently.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

There will also be the Religious, The Chaoticians masquerading as Healers, wanting to burn away all traces of the other two in the sake of their Belief. I would be one of them, until the fire burned me too. But oh, How Glorious would the Bonfire of Souls would be! A rising sun in an alien planet darkened by the bodies of the Unfaithful ...

There's no such thing as too much invested to leave permanently if you really want it that bad.

Indeed. If that were the case, the only people that would sign up for this would be homeless people.
