Hello guys,

Ok so i have been following ship fittings on the internet for my ships for a while now and it take 3 to 4 tries before i get one that works for me. Its a waste of money and time, as soon as i get a new ship its off the try another 3 or 4 so its about time i learnt whats what with ship fitting.

So i wanted to know if there is a guide around the teach me all about what means what and i cant decide for myself a good fitting and make them on my own. can anyone help with this?

If not maybe its time we made a thread on the subject that can accessed by all people wishing to aquire the same information i am.

Thank you

4 major things I learned that made me better at ship fitting:

1. Use the ships bonuses to their fullest.

IE. the Machariel: When someone first linked me a ambit extension rigged Mach I thought they were silly, however with the bonus to falloff on the Machariel pushing out the falloff to about 70 km with autocannons will get you higher actual DPS than just burst aerator/collision accelerator rigs unless whatever you is shooting stays within 5km.

2. Know what every module does, how tech 2 relates to the meta 4/faction/deadspace variants

IE. ECM modules' meta 4 versions are the exact same thing as tech 2 but cheaper and easier to fit, so its 100% worthless to use tech 2. Is true for some things and not for others, when fitting ships in EFT show info on the meta 4/tech 2/faction/deadspace modules to see how they match up.

3. Design a ship fit with an intended purpose in mind.

IE. Kiting pvp ships. An autocannon fit nano hurricane with a scrambler is generally not a great idea. If you are planning on kiting/nano-fitting you are better off with a disruptor and artillery as you want to be able to kite/gtfo.

4. There are people around that fly solid fits with great tactics and really know what their doing. Go look at their killboard losses and see what their doing, if you can understand why they fit that way and what purpose they had in mind with that fit.

IE. Immortalis Inc., The Tuskers, Shadows of the Federation (I'm a lowsec pilot so not interested in the pro nullsec fits)

Once you get all these under your belt you are ready to take on the mass of fail fits on battleclinic b/c you'll know why their bad and how to use them as base fits and modify them so you don't sh!tfit.

Not today spaghetti.

Also ask your corp. Most corps will have a "doctrine" of some kind. Even if it isn't a formal thing like you will see in the more organized groups often people will gravitate towards one type of ship or another. This is mostly "by taste" for things like mission running or kitchen sink PvP.

Just remember for organized fleets and gangs the snowflake is almost always at a disadvantage. Meta game exists because people have the time and ocd to work out all the math for us.

And even if the corp doesn't have anything to go from ask around to the people who have success in the given activity. Though take that with a grain of salt as it can never replace your own knowledge of the modules and why they work.
