Was there anything about this at Fanfest?

I feel like I would end up fighting through layers of human verification if this became a thing.

I'm most sure we would have all heard about it by now if so.

And no.

I feel like you wouldn't need to skill queue through anything but the client, if CCP would extend the scope to however many days your current subscription can carry, instead of 24 hrs....

Yeah, I feel like bad things would happen if they ever did it through EVE Gate.

Maybe when crest hits we can get our out of game skill queue, but I seriously doubt it.

I would never agree with an out-of-client skill queue.... and even if CCP gave it to us, anyway, I'd never use it.

I really wish this was possible.

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

Before the skill queue was first added there was a clear desire by CCP that people should have to log in to the game to change skills. They didn't want people to "not" play the game and never log in. That's why it is only 24 hours. I don't think CCP has changed their position.

It would be really nice. Although I understand CCP policy here, the problem is when travelling without a computer able to run the client. I also had some trouble last time the graphic card reqs changed, over night myt laptop was too old. Had to buy a new one during my trip, which made me miss a few days worth of skilling.

But I guess the problem is worse for the newer players, the old players always have some 30 day skills to put into the queue before leaving home.

If I remember correctly from the Fanfest stream, they were talking about doing it via a mobile app, but dunno about Eve Gate itself. Unless of course the App is Eve Gate, then probably will be able to change skills without logging in.

Eve gate can't even edit my bio without deleting it. This piece of **** would have to get a lot better before i'd trust it with my skill plan.

There used to be a time where u didn't even have any skillqueue at all.

Logging in at 3 at night to switch skills... ah, those were the days Lol

Personally i would like to see it changed to a fixed number of skills in the queue, but not a real time limit, so i can set at least two >24h skills (not a lot of <24h skills for me left Blink)

All those saying that it is not need are nothing but full of crap. I am sure they said the same about a skill queue "Oh no, I will NEVER use it, and it will NEVER happen". And probably said the same about getting rid of learning skills. I bet you have not used those lousy skill points, have you?

Forcing people to log in just to change skills is completely ********. It only adds lag and stress to the server, without creating any value whatsoever.

If CCP developed a mobile app just to be able to manage the skill queue, and possibly R&D and market orders, and even chat, it would only add to the game. People would be able to interact anywhere, not just in front of their computer. And it could probably be run in a different node, or whatever magic is behind EVE Online without affecting those that have logged in to actually play the pew pew game.

And for all those talking about security, it's not like the game client forces you to enter 5 different passwords that expire every week. There are banking apps with high security. I do not see why CCP would not be able to achieve that goal also.

You might wanna re-read the last CSM minutes:

Quote:

Alice was surprised that none of the CSM mentioned changing skills. Seleene said that most people had assumed CCP would never allow it, so there wasn't much point in bringing it up, but asked if Alice knew something that the CSM didn't. Two step said that he had assumed that would come with CREST...

Alice said that everything was on the table and open for discussion, and Seleene replied asking for a way to change his skills on the web, and Hans agreed...

Alice said that CCP's views had evolved over the past few years, and they wanted people able to play and instigate things from outside the client...

I consider this just silly. No one is going to magically go "Oh! Maybe I should play EVE for 6 hours!" when all the intended to do was update their skill queue. All you see is your docked ship and the menus so its not like the interface is impressing you with itself. Maybe the urge to spin their ship in the dock overcomes many people... Or at least that is what CCP thinks.

It is one of those function that is just ignorant not to have, though I doubt they'll add it because of stubborness.

"instigate things from outside the client"

I'm assuming that means more than just randomly offending people in GD.

Does anyone know how far they want to go with this instigation - market manipulation, manufacturing, wardecs? There's a lot that could easily be made available outside the client that can have a huge impact in game.
