Material cost not adding up?

So I'm trying to manufacture from a blueprint. I currently have PE IV, so not perfect but just trying to figure things out. When I go to submit a job, however, the cost from the blueprint (YOU) and the cost that I'm told I have to pay does not match. Anyone know what is going on?

I bug reported this 4 months ago: bug 150569

I suggest you bug report it as well.

Haha guess I'll have to wait until I get PE 5 then :-P

Thank for the reply, and bug reported.

I saw this when I did industry also. It was confusing but did not appear to be a bug. It seemed to want me to give it more minerals than the job required (listed in the extra field) and I don't know why, but I assume I got the minerals back when I was done. I didn't actually check though.

Are you taking into account the waste of the facility used? It even states right on the Blueprint

"Bill of Materials does not take into consideration the efficiency of the installation"

However, I have found that with perfect build skills like I have that there doesn't seem to be any discrepancy from the stated required amounts. If there has been it's been minuscule. But I have on multiple occasions taken the exact required materials to the NPC station I happened to build in that day and it built the item fine.

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: "You have no idea how true that is".

The only installations that I know of that have material multipliers that aren't 1 (i.e. efficiencies other than 100%) are:
Rapid Equipment Assembly Array
the Advanced Ship Assembly Arrays

If I had to guess, I would say skill-based wasteage is being applied to the extra materials, and the waste amount is being added to the raw material total.

If I had to guess. No idea if that's what's supposed to happen. It certainly is an awkward interface.

e.g., pyerite - You: 446077
Extra: 208811

208811 * .05 + "You" = 456517.55

On the other hand, I could swear I recall extra mats not being affected by any modifier, so there's that... but the numbers do add up.
