lol

That's what I was thinking too, especially with the traffic all stopped in the background.

I saw that same setup in Houston on the actual set of "Robocop 2" (I was a background extra).

Yeah I remember this being a car commercial. Even without the snopes link above the average user should be able to realize that its fake. For starters, both squad cars are right there. One is parked in front of the moving van and the other is down the road just a little and can be seen behind the malibu.
The second clue is that each squad car is carrying 4 officers. How often does one see this? One could say that they came from the station or what not but unfortunately the officers in the back seats wouldn't be able to assist unless their front seat partners let them out. What I'm getting at is that one simply does not open the rear door of a squad car from the inside.
The last clue is the simple fact that all 8 officers dash right into the bank, which needless to say is not policy. They would be running into a unknown situation putting themselves and any possible hostages in harms way. Not to mention the fact that they, for obvious reasons of the commercial, didn't even bother to contain the area around the bank first, thus putting everyone in the immediate area in harms way as well.
Yes I know, I sucked the funny out of the joke.

Why would someone expect that of the US? Lax on training and procedure isn't exactly a trait of US officers and agents.

did anyone see one of the cop cars was parked across the street when the robbers ran out? parked in front of the box truck. Of course, if you listen to audio, you can here the director talking on a radio...it's a movie, not a real robbery...but funny anyway.

No, but running straight to where the alarms are and lack of situational awareness (car with people in black clothes outside a bank with an alarm running, having seen a flutter of movement before they turn up) is something that would be expected. Think of it as Intel being used wrong, or being overeager to use fire-power and look badass.

But then that would be a lax of training and procedure......

Do they subliminally hit you with the Benny Hill theme song every time American news coverage comes on over there?

Are you talking about Panama? I'm curious because they way I understood it, at least for Brazil, is that your officers are trained like Special Forces considering what they have to go up against. I was watching a show about military forces across the globe and they were the only civilian crew because they ranked right up there in training and skill.
