CCP has stated in their keynote presentations that they are working on various ideas for mobile apps connecting to Eve VIA CREST.

Or maybe because most of the stuff currently being offered is for dust and is ps3 technology and weirdly that is what the vita is build around. Its all crest stuff and that is somewhat designed to work with sony products already. You seem to have missed the part where ccp Unifex is basically now creating the mobile part of ccp and if you mail your ideas and wants to his twitter as he asked people to do during fanfest he is their to listen to them.

But yes Vita is coming first due to the fact its already bundled into dust. Think of the vita as just a ps3 extention for dust and the mobile stuff is still to come.

^ This is true.

Perhaps instead of complaining that what they have developed for Dust for PS3 and Vita does not meet your Eve requirements, you could look at getting involved in developing your own Android app programming.
There are a few good Android programming books out there.

Lul, yes, because CCP shouldn't actually cater to their customer base right?....Right? Shocked

I'm not sure why you guys are angry that the hardware the dust514 companion app is for is the Vita.
CCP is catering the app to playstation users.
Perhaps no one you know owns a PS3 and a Vita, but it is just the beginning.

Once this app works, they can apply the idea to other devices.
(which CCP Unifex is now working on most likely along with other ideas.)

I want to be able to update market orders from my Samsung Galaxy Note.
I will wait patiently, as I have no programming knowledge at this time.
(perhaps I should take my own advice and teach myself some Android programming.)

Vera Algaert, I am aware that the ps3 and vita hardware and Dev tools are different.
I was more in agreement with the fact that the app development was likely worked on by the dust team in Shanghai, who are focused on Sony products and their way of connecting to Tranquility, which is through CREST.

I do not really care what, if any influence Sony have on Dust.

My concern would be if Sony were to have any influence on Eve Online - the original space ship version.

Is the mini-hacking soon to be introduced in exploration, there because Sony 'approved' it?

I ask, because the mini-hacking is such an odd addition to the original Eve Online.

This is not a signature.

Argument is invalid. One cannot compare phones with handheld consoles. Bad post.

Stuff

Isn't all the Eve API stuff still read only? What everyone seems to want is an app that actually does something more than give you notifications and information. So I think peoples complaint is that you can learn to program in Android all you want, but you still can't match the functionality that could be put into this Vita project.

Audi are not devoting 100% of their resources to the R8 model I bought? They are working on multiple models to reach a wider customer base?! The entire company should devote everything to the model I bought and nothing else. This is bullshit!

You are correct. The current api is read only.
CREST is read/write
Here's some of the information about the CREST API.
