Systems I've Visited (F10 Star Map Option) - Question

I'm making a grand tour of New Eden. Some of the systems I've passed through are registering as being visited. Many are not. Is there something I have to do in each system for it to register a visit? (Perhaps warping gate to gate is not enough?) Maybe I have to visit a celestial? Or perhaps remain a certain length of time in a system?

Anyone know?

Try adjusting your brightness.

CCP mostly sucks at their job, but Veritas is a pretty cool dude.

Hey Poetic! Keep going, I'm following your blog and it's good to read your writings.

As for your question, as far as I am aware, you need to be able to dock at a station. I'm not sure that just gate-jumping will register as a visit. Perhaps CCP can let you know.

You have probably worked it out by now... by in my experience, you have to wait until after down time for the "Systems I've Visited" map updates.

Jumping into a system is good enough and warping to the out gate is definately "enough". I have a full EVE map to prove it :)

You also might need to "refresh" your map to ensure it updates after DT.

There is a downtime job which updates your travel statistics.
Essentially every downtime we go through a days worth of Stargate/Wormhole jump logs, per character, and update the travel history for them. It's not a very elegant solution so I wouldn't be surprised to see it move to something less static in the future. We're always looking for ways to reduce the total downtime EVE needs.

If you are not seeing expected updates to your "Systems Visited" map statistics after DT you should bug report it. The solution to the eventual defect would very likely include restoring your statistics to reflect reality.

Sorry, this is no longer a proper downtime job. CCP Hunter has been working hard on moving those around to reduce the time DT requires.
It's just a scheduled job now that runs shortly after midnight so that's when the data updates in the DB. The caching of the data is 15 minutes, so depending on when you last checked the data it should update between 00:20 and 00:35 EVE time, or even earlier depending on how long the job takes to run.

So if that is not happening for you, report it.

Sorry for the original confusion. These changes just went live at the end of last month.

Thanks for the updates, CCP Prism X. All of the "Visited" updates eventually caught up. Sometimes it took two updates.
