Dedicated missile boats are not, in my view designed for CQB
They can bombard from range, but cannot engage in distances less than their minimum range

You're straight up wrong. The Drake is an excellent 'brawler' BC.

Well, the minimum range for missiles is zero. So he's quite right to state that missile boats can't engage at negative ranges, although I think guns might have this problem too... Lol

Hmm, if you fire a missile at a ship -5 km away, it presumably has a negative flight time, so it hits before you even fire it. Finally, the missile delayed-damage problem is solved!

now this...would be nice. YOu see the well have missiles follow ships into work ability (saw it in a cruise missile thread before iirc). I would much rather have missiles that do this though.

Although I would kindly request CCP does not apply this to bombs. I see that getting messy quick for bomber wings lol.

Why? Because they're not exactly necessary on an unbonused hull and it isn't the caldaei way to do that, or the Drake would have turret hardpoints and the caracal wouldn't have lost it's). However, the one caldari exception is the raven, which has only 6 turrets and terrible damage application. It works on matari ships because it's in their doctrine, or in other words it's a racial trait to prevent stagnation in having most hulls be the same. Your only complaint was range when they actually gain much better range and applied dps. Your argument is like complaining an autocannon ferox is worst than an autocannon hurricane. And don't evrn try the amarr drone boat argument, yes they have tons of options for what weapon goes in their high slots, but that dps is neither substantial nor easily applied without gimping the fit for damage mods and/or rigs.

They're being removed because they're pointless. A missile ferox plays pretty much like a severely gimped drake. There's absolutely no reason to fit missiles to it when you can fit them to a drake for the same price.

If you need more range from your ferox, bring some Spike with you. That gives you over 100km effective range BEFORE you factor in range-enhancing mods.

I want a lazzor raven. I can smell the expansion notes now. Amarr and caldi (min/gal) cross over hulls.

Even better cross race the ewar with the hulls! A laser scorp with ecm bonus on amarr bs training but fits shields!

Yes 0/10 to both OP troll and my own silly idea.

there is the surprise factor of seeing a ferox actually being flown in combat. Might stun the enemy enough to get a few shots before they come out of the daze. Or maybe to confuse a tackler thinking oh its a rail boat no tracking bonus, lets orbit fast and close. BUt if doing that and not miissing weapons bonuses, getting a drake and running AML it probably still a better solution all the same.

Iirc ccp with the slot changes admitted they know medium hybrids need love, this is probably a step 1 to lay some groundwork for it till they can get back to them. If not liking the unbonused split weapons are bad argiments...these seems to be a half legit one anyway.

Caldari do have the long range option still, with Railguns, and yes they aren't fantastic.

I noticed you were complaining about using them up close, there is a knack to it if you're not completely terrible, drop the transveral or control your ranges better. If you can knock frigates out at range.

I think with Antimatter and 200mm rails you have 34km range with falloff, more than enough to get them while approaching. If they are close, drones. Drones. 5 hobgoblin II's will **** on any frig. If it's cruisers giving you jipp focus the camera on them, now, using the double click in space, fly in the exact same direction they do. even at 2km you'll hit and hit hard. Hell you can get a hype with 425mm's to land hits on cruisers at 5km with that technique.

And of course if you want more range ammo swap it's 5 seconds.
