If i was CEO, i'd tell everybody that everything stays as it is,
including having CCP Hellmar in charge,
except that more people should listen to CCP SoundWave.

Player retention.

EvE doesn't start with a bang. Lackluster graphics, dated interface, snails pace for newbies, most don't remember what it's like to be completely new....it's tough to like.

EvE's midgame should be lowsec but it's so abused that most people are sitting in there from lack of ambition or the lack of social skills. You move here and make highsec income while you lose sec status and learn next to nothing about PvP in the next step of the game.

EvE's end game suffers accessibility issues because of the lowsec disconnect. You're unlikely to meet people from nullsec while you are in highsec, you might meet them in lowsec while they hotdrop you for lols, and if you avoid lowsec because it sucks they usually won't recruit you because they know you're a liability due to your lack of knowledge.

EvE should be hard, I feel strongly that it should. But there are things EvE could do to retain players better while providing more content for all of us.

Way to generalize, you know all this from first hand experience, I trust.

The only way to increase the population that much would be to remove that which makes most of us play this game; ie remove the death penalty, remove scamming and ass-hattery, and focus on solo theme-park play.

Most of the people that I talk to that have tried Eve and who have quit have mentioned one variation of those as reasons for leaving. There's been quite a few over the years that I have tried to introduce to Eve, but who has left after a little while. And they have all give one of those reasons.

One just has to accept that Eve is a niche game, and it always will be. Trying to make it a blockbuster among the MMOs requires changing it so much as to be unrecogniseable. And to be honest, having a few hundred thousand paying accounts is not bad.

Not every MMO has to have WoW numbers. Eve is profitable even with a few hundred thousand customers, and one could surely say that Eve despite this number has one of the most complex and advanced technological solutions of all MMOs, regardless of size.

First thing I would do is close down the forums.

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

CCP is owned by private investment companies. Athough, I do suspect they don't expect CCP to have WoW numbers, they generally would like profits to go up each quarter increasing their RoI. If CCP profits went down, then they probaly would have a top level managment discussion as to find out why.

I mean these companies didn't invest into CCP out of charity.

Let's discuss how to get rid of these investors then, because I certainly don't give a flying fornication about their agenda.

Boobies

Plain and simple.

Maybe something for the ladies too.

[dont judge me! what the empress doesnt know wont hurt her!]

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

Win the lottery or get every EVE player to take out a mortgage of $50,000 to turn CCP into a player co-op?

1. Making the number of capitals a corp/alliance can build proportional to sov systems the corp/ally owns.

2. Making PVE far more difficult and a serious boot camp for PVP. Ideally a PVE fit would be the same of a PVP one. You cannot trade intelligence of a human with some scripts but you can make NPCs using massively ECM, nosf, web and scrambles and hit like a truck.

3. PVP is very good as it has consequences. PVE has any. Jita should not be Caldari forever...

The idea is "how would you increase CCP's cashflow" not "how would you neuter CCP's cashflow and ensure that the company goes bankrupt within days"

Boobs would pretty much do it. Now wether we want floods of people only here for the boobs is another question entirely...

After the patch we're giving the market some gentle supply restriction, like tying one wrist to the bedpost loosely with soft silk rope. Just enough to make things a bit more exciting for the market, not enough to make a safeword necessary.  -Fozzie
