I like the idea, good if it's only visual and not a requirement for cynoing around.

Coherent fleet jump could also be implemented by a new command for the Fleet Commander. "Jump Fleet to CynoBlabla"

Might have some silly side-effects, but I believe it would make things a lot more interesting. :-)

That would actually be hilarious and cool (imagine doing it as a spy)

Could I also request that if the cyno dies mid-jump, that we not land at the center of the sun?
Being randomly scattered around the system would be great. In the center of the sun is not only ridiculous and makes no sense, but it's a tremendous pain in the ass because you're unable to warp for at least a minute while your ship recovers from being bounced out at several hundred million meters per second.

The first time it happens it's kind of cool, after that it's obnoxious.

I remember it used to be that you landed somewhere in system that wasn't the cyno, but somehow now it's always at the center of the sun. And then it happened to me twice in a row.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

will only add more calculations the server needs to peform not a good idea for now

That doesn't make any sense. Why does the server need to get involved at all? It's purely a graphics thing. The client knows where everything is, doesn't it? So why can't the client itself do it?

i believe this is only the case for bridges, capitals that jumped while the cyno was alive should still land on grid.

Something else i'd like to see before this though (while this is till a good idea) is the ship models actually being the proper size's, ie. dreads being around the same size as super carriers seems odd.

the problem is that we don't have a truly interactive mode to identify which star are looking at in game.

the only way to use the jump out information as intel would be if you already had a database. which even if it could be made, it would be too inaccurate (what if he jumped to a nearby system instead of being stupid and aiming straight for sagain?)

i always thought that the hacking proff in game was incredibly simplistic and devoid of any real utility. maybe having a module like a ship scanner to access the target ship's autopilot route, cyno target, some bookmarks maybe? what about wallet information? i wouldn't go as far as hacking to steal some iskies, but obtaining information such as autopilot route could lead to some interesting "emergent gameplay".

i would actually bother to train those hacking skills, and might spend an hour or two scanning people near jita.

Terrible idea and a waste of dev power.
