Thank you for „Burn Jita 2”

I’m a bit surprised I couldn’t find a thank you thread for Burn Jita 2.

I really had fun this weekend.

When Burn Jita was announced I didn’t know what to expect. I read some posts about last year’s Burn Jita event but wasn’t there to experience it myself (I started playing EvE after last year’s event).

So in preparation I decided to make my last hauler trip to Jita at least 2 days before the announced starting date (they said Burn Jita would start on Friday, but considering what I learned from playing EvE I fully expected to see the first hauler kills happen on Thursday P). Then I bought a cheap t1 frigate (Executioner), put some cheap mods on it (guns, dual sensor booster and some other stuff – total price was below 1M ISK including rigs) and undocked to find some trouble. Smile

And I learned a LOT.

For example that I need to prepare new PvP overview settings for large fights to make it easier to target a specific ship type.
Or how fast some people lock on – with my setup my signature resolution was at 2.6k and it helped, but some people beat me with ease, it seemed.
Or why it is a good idea to keep some range (at least 6km) to those smartbombing BS – one of them almost got me … put me into structure before I made my getaway.
Or how long it takes for Concord to show up (5-6 sec in 1.0, correct?);
and much else.

And on top of it I had the opportunity to get on some killmails courtesy of Goons and friends (tbh only one of the kills was an “honest” 2 on 1, most of the others involved Concord or a larger number of other players – but it looks good on first glance, doesn’t it? Cool).

So, thank you very much for Burn Jita 2 Big smile

TL;DR: I had a blast, thanks. Big smile

Disapointed, so far. Straight

My empty frieghter almost go scanned once. And I saw a buncha reds get detonated when they warped right smack into the middle of a monster concetration of Concord - It was like flashbulbs popping.

Oh, and someone tried to lock up my Vigil at one point - after I was already 50km from them and moving away fast.

Not terribly impressed. Moer action, pls!

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Maybe make it more exciting for yourself and take a freighter full of stuff into Jita next time? Blink

I took a frieghter full of stuff out (fuel blocks). Then came back. On the way out, was ignored completely. On the way in, almost got scanned - which means that one pilot almost learned whether or not I was hauling Dred BPOs or vacuum.

Not a good showing.

All this is stuff you could have learned otherwise, if you had some balls - but its always nice to thank people who spoon-feed those too scared to get in the thick of it.

Personally I would like to thank them for emergent repetition.

CCP need to change their advertising and videos. How com all I see is "build you own empire" BS. The videos should show combat ships attacking unarmed vessels with the tag line "be someone you were too scared to be in real life."

In 4 days?
That is 46 freighters and 3 Jump freighters per day. Approximately 2 kills per hour. I call that poor.

Yes, is.

You are absolutely right -

Been playing a great game for 10 years. Empires were growing, things were interesting. You actually had to think. It was a place I could find an intelligent base of people to play with

Now we have things like Burn Jita.

Some people think its fun - but then again, it does not take much to excite kids these days. Personally, I think it is lame

Kind of like working for a great company that set high entry standards, and then realize they have been hiring people with no experience or education for the past year.

It just make it hard to believe the BS they put out about how amazing and dynamic EVE is.

I'm not. It's the sort of thing that could swell their heads yet more leading to a homicide by ego bloat charge and you can be held liable for that by CCP.
