...what? Am I the only one utterly confused about the meaning of the above quote? Seriously I can't figure out what it means.

Am I supposed to interpret the 'own' here as a state of ownership (conventional) or the internet meaning of besting someone. And does 'themselves' refer to the same mysterious 'them' we found earlier in the sentence, or to the rather vague 'some characters'?

A bit weird, but I think it's saying that the characters become objects like a corporation, and then these objects are then owned by the character.

So it's a character owning the character... I could easily see that causing problems

I'm guessing that 'them' should be 'themselves' and 'own' should be 'pwn'.

Some characters have gotten themselves into the broken state where they pwn themselves.

At least it would be something to do in CQ.

Seems to me they have something like the Composite Design pattern implemented.
Probably its an inherited form as i doubt they intended that functionality in characters.
If it is inherited something like this could happen ... maybe.
Pure speculation obviously as i have no insight whatsoever in their code.

Really I thought the same thing, but then I remembered getting podded over the weekend, and not being able to undock because my character was 'not in the correct location' or something. Figured it was a fix on that bit.

Characters have an owner id, this is not having the correct value in some rare instances, instead of showing the account id or something, the actual character's id is being stored in it's place. At least that's how I read it.
