Odyssey Faction Ships: Amarr vs. Minmatar

Who do you think comes out ahead with the new updates?

Amarr:

Navy Harbinger - Serious EHP upgrade. Fifth Mid. Tracking and 10% damage bonus. Very sexy.
Navy Omen - Stabber with 40km Scorch? This isn't my cup of tea per se but I sold four for 75m in under 10 minutes. Cool
Navy Augorer - 60-70k EHP with 6.75 turret equivalents and two medium neutralizers. This is my cup of tea. Armor Phantasm.
Navy Slicer - A bit easier to fit.

Minmatar:

Fleet Issue Cane - It has the EHP upgrades but the whole 'old Cane' for 4x-5x the price is a bit unoriginal and frustrating.
Fleet Issue Stabber - Good ship but it's speed is being nerfed a bit.
Fleet Issue Scythe - Great speed and DPS.
Republic Fleet Firetail - A nice damage buff and easier to fit.

I can't really tell until I put it in eft. So all this is just hunches (and from a solo perspective):

I was thinking the firetail was going to be great. But now I'm not so sure the dps boost will make it competitive.

I'm sort of interested in the amarr cruisers but the idea of an omen as a large slow slicer doesn't really seem that great.
edit: maybe highs turrets plus 1 med neut, mids mwd cap booster and disrupter, with 7 lows it might be good with a dcu, 2 nanos, 2 heatsinks, 1te, and ??

Scythe looks better imo. It might have niche.

Navy Auger would be great for solo but 3 mids is a problem for a ship that both needs cap and has poor tracking. Web, ab and drop booster probably still won't allow you to hit frigates and afs. Especially if even one has a td.

TBH I haven't even tried to analyze the last changes to regular bcs let alone the faction ones. But I agree an old hurricane at 5xs the price when all the other ships have been buffed? Thats a hard sell imo.

Fleet Cane is hilarious. Minmatar pilots deserve this kind of crap after they got CCP to do the great projectile buff of 2009 without taking into account ac fittings and other advantages or the fact that ships like the rifter, jaguar, thrasher, sabre, rupture and hurricane where already the best or second best in their class. Notice how the hybrid changes last year are nowhere near that level.

Navy aug can get way more EHP that you post without sacrificing anything really..

If i recall the fit i made (that had close to 500 dps) had almost 90k ehp. its going to be a really nice ship.

slicer - meh
firetail - winner. more speed, more dps.

navy cruisers - favor amarr imo. with tracking enhancer nerfs and hull issues, i think amarr hulls got that much better.

still, 1 tracking disruptor and they're all ****. get a missle ship and web to go with it.

Oh this was about navy ships? Minmatar and Amarr? Meh I doubt I'll be buying either. But I know everyone will want to buy those Navy Brutixes, even if they don't have the kick-ass active armor bonus.

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, [u]please[/u] give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

I'm looking forward to the Navy BC's.

I just hope there are more Large Plexes made to spawn too so we can have a use for them.

Great to finally have faction battlecruisers.

does not really matter what ships they will bring, some are better than others and people will use those.

But overall new changes to BS are interesting, sad thing is that cheap smart bomb BS will be history, also lowered resist bonuses may cause that alpha gets boost, on the other hand nerf for TE can balance that a bit.

Sad thing after all these changes is that i have couple hundred fitted ships with outdated fit so effort to make all those work again is too much.

The Firetail really needs this buff. If this is enough, no idea. As you have seen yesterday I always die when I am going for brawling... and the buff of the Firetail doesn't significantly improve its kiting ability.

The Fleet Issue Scythe is already a great ship if you know how to use it. The changes will change its role a bit, but they sound very promising. However, since cruisers are limited to medium plexes it will still be of limited use for me. (These where good times when you where able to enter small plexes with a cruisers...)

Fleet Issue Cane: WTF? You spend sooo much money and you can only use it in large plexes which are rare like gold. I personally do not see any use of BC/BS in faction warefare for me.

My vision is AB, cap booster, scram for plex warfare. If you have 60k to 90k EHP you also have lots of time to call for help from buds for those embarrassing Rifter moments. Blink
