"The EVE cluster has reached its maximum user limit. Please try logging in again later. You are #43 in line for logon."

I tried at least a dozen times to log on and take part in today's test. At one point the number of logged on users went from 635 to 641, but I was never able to get on. If that's a bug, please fix it. If not, please state before the test that you will be limiting connections so people don't rearrange their schedules for nothing. Also, the interaction of the launcher and the game client is really bad when the above error happens. Pressing "Connect" again results in this message:

"The client is already connecting to the server (whether or not the login progress bar is showing). Please wait."

But the truth of the matter is you will never connect from that screen. You must completely shut down the game client and re-start the launcher before you'll ever successfully connect. What is this 'progress bar' you speak of here? Eh, it's a mess.

Oh well, thought I'd add at least a little feedback since the main test is off limits for me today.

  • RAM: 4Gb (effectively)
  • How many clients were you running at the same time?
  • One
  • Graphic setting of the client (low / medium / high): Low
  • - Anti-Aliasing: Off
    - Shader Quality: Low
    - Texture Quality: High
    - LOD Quality: Low

User Experience

  • Average FPS during the fight at the gate in X-BV98, zoomed out (brackets / no brackets):
  • 15FPS with TiDi, 5-7 FPS when TiDi was gone.
  • Average FPS - Zoomed in (brackets / no brackets):
  • No idea, it was unbearable.
  • Memory usage of the client (if checked):
  • Had to close logserver, othervise not checked. The memory usage is VERY high, even with settings optimized for "memory". To compare, WoW at max settings in 25 man raid only use about 700Mb. EVE easily eating 1.5Gb when docked in station.
  • Was client performance better or worse compared to your TQ experience with the same settings and fleet size? (1=way worse, 5=same, 10=OMG this is awesome)
  • 5 about the same
  • Did you experience any disconnects or crashes?
  • No.
  • Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.:
  • Had to disable effects before the fight started, as it was a huge lag generator.
Unless it's some dev tools running in test client, that would be left out in release, the EVE cleint using ENORMOUS amount of memory. You have to pay close attention to resource usage, if you plan to develop your game any further.

One final note. When I was moved from the battlefeild (used moveme channel), all models disappeared. My ship, ships around me, stations, celestials, stars and capital jump range on the star map was also invisible.

Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.:

During the fight at the gate I've experienced a Bug or strange behaviour with my drones:
I let them attack an enemy ship. During the fight my drones received damage by an enemy. Two of them where down at 0% 0% 0% and should get destroyed. Instead of getting destroyed they returned to my ship and orbited me. Furthermore they started to regenerate thier shield. But I had no control anymore about these drones. Additionally I could only control my 3 remaining drones.

Did you experience any disconnects or crashes? None
Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.:
While playing only one client everything was perfect! Experienced very short TD effects after jumping/warping but no crashes. FPS changed plus minus 2 while changing brackets.
While OC (1600 MHz) for the memories and turbo boost (CPU to 4 GHz) there were no issues at all but the real challenge for the hardware (with 6 titans) was missing because of player limits (Had to log out 5 clients). I hope there will be no limit in future! :)
