Working on a new trading tool

Hi guys,

I'be been working on a trading tool -

http://www.eveopoly.com/

All it does is match sell orders in one system with buy orders in another and spits out a list that you can go buy, transport, and then sell to make a profit.

There's a video on the site with a slightly better explanation.

Any thoughts?

Looks promising..

Though it does suffer the same webservice trust issue problem..

Some transparency would be useful..

Oops, fixed the video.

Not sure what's to trust. Not asking for your API key, not doing anything automatically on your behalf. Just giving you a list of orders to go check out. You can validate it yourself against buy & sell orders on the marketplace.

To be clear, this isn't giving you a theoretical calculated price at which to buy and sell. It's giving you actual buy & sell orders that match up

Thanks for the feedback!

This exists through EVE Central, which is updated by Contribtastic, look there, and make it better by keeping a price history (past the in game 6mo) and many will love you or it.

Do you mean the trade finder? This is different in a few ways.

  • More real-time instead of batch based
  • Finds trades via multiple systems at once instead of 1 -> 1
  • Calculates profit with tax/brokers fees included so you don't get screwed by bad math.

All that lets you snatch up deals faster. Speed really counts for these.

I'm using the same data feed as eve central. ( http://www.eve-emdr.com/ )

Price history isn't really relevant. This is a "Right Now" immediate gratification tool. This is not for buying low and selling high in the same station. I like to think of this as the wholesale distributor side of things instead of the retail side.

I see, that actually could be a fairly useful tool, the batch system's latency can be a pain and has bit me atleast once (fortunately things that I just had to wait for them to swing back in my favor) and the taxes issue was a pain the first few trades. As to the price history, I did a quick bing search and found something, so it already existed. GL with your new tool though, I will be keeping an eye on this thread

If you'd stop advertising the site it would probably be useful. Ha ha. I can't get it to work and it says only 10 people can use it at once? Seems like it would be a useful resource (very similar to eve-central but with different data - more info means better chance of profit), but if you have 30 people going after the same deals it isnt very useful.

Does it only go from hub to hub? Are there other systems inlcuded?

I think this is a great tool, but you would want to add a capcha or something like answer this question randomly to make sure no one makes an automated program just for that site.

and a little message "if you like this site please disable adblock...."

Just my 2 cents.

also if you update it often and if actually going to be accurate unlike..., it would certainly beat eve central and some other site that doesn't immediately come to mind for traffic.

Yeah, the more people who use it, the less profit per person there is to extract. An inherent problem in this sort of thing.

Overall, it makes the free market more efficient.

The 10 person thing isn't actually true anymore, upgraded to 100 today (I use pubnub for the realtime stuff). Leave it running, you're only getting deals it finds in real time, and not stuff it found in the past. Sometimes it takes a few minutes, sometimes a bunch pop up right away.

Right now, it's just Jita, Amarr, Dodixie, Rens, Hek -- I've been using it that way to fill up big courier contracts, and it's easier to get couriers in the bigger systems. I will probably expand it to either all systems, (maybe all hisec) or at least a larger subset.

The problem with adding more is the computational resources to do this increase quite a bit the more systems I add. I'll have to optimize a lot before that. (hey, I banged this out in a day, quick & dirty for now)

Short-term, know of any other high volume systems to add?

If bots becomes a problem, I sure will.

I doubt this site would ever get enough ad revenue to pay for the resources it consumes. Right now, it'll cost me something like $50/month to run. At some point, I will probably look at some sort of isk based payments to get access to it. That would also solve the too-many-people, not enough profit problem.

Have any of you actually made some isk from it yet?

Also, stay away from the Experimental 10MN Afterburner I -> Amarr order that keeps popping up today for 77,000 - almost surely a scam.

You can filter buy orders with "high" minVolume

Thanks, added a couple more of the top stations, and I think I will implement that minVolume thing. Maybe even limit it to minVolume=1

Yeah, I use a similar tool which only started giving relevant pointers when I discarded anything with minimum volume > 1.

How do you get the real time information? I just use the eve central dump. (The delay is usually fine for me because I compare weighted average buy prices vs sell prices and target buy/sell positions with longer durations).

Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec and nullsec.

If my understanding of EMDR is correct (which it likely isn't, I cannot into EVE development) the latest third party announcements are about to lay a brick on it.

It's pretty much a cluster-F!@# of conflicting information. My guess, is at the end of all this it'll still be fine.

Quick update -

I had the cache settings on the site set up wrong. If you've visited it before you might be seeing an old verison. Do a shift-reload on each page and it'll fix it for you. Also, shouldn't happen again after you do that, new versions will automatically update.

New version today includes:

A column per source-station instead of mixing them all up. Really helps when you're making a shopping list of what to buy from one place. You can also hide columns if you don't care for that station. (make sure to scroll left/right now)

New algorithm for finding deals. Before it just looked for the most profitable from->to route. Now, it finds all possible and display them in a nice table format. This leads to a much bigger profit potential. For example, I just let my page open for 1 minute and found 238 million isk worth.

There's a link to eve central so you can check prices easily.
