Does anyone use sniper harpies?

The Harpy assault ship gets a double optimal range bonus, and so far once I plug it into EFT it comes out to an 85km range and 110dps (using javelin ofc). So how come people don't use sniper harpies for pvp?

I've seen them in FW plexes before.

Ed: IIRC the Cormorant does it better though.

I remember reading the FHC harpy thread some time ago and there was a dual web rail fit going round that was quite popular with a number of pilots. It had absolutely no tank, it used the dual webs to keep range and the great damage projection to kill stuff.

indeed, corm is 123 dps to 95+9.8km and perma mwd.

Also 1/4 of the price

plus i bet the harpy fit hasn't even accounted for targeting range.

el o el i can shoot you at 9001km away "Target is 8500km away when your targeting range is 45000m"

124 DPS @ 95+9.8, 150km of lock range, a damp, and more EHP than the Cormorant. I also don't see how you perma MWD on the Cormorant. What fit are you looking at?

Oh, it's not like a side attribute to get the perma MWD. You actually waste rig slots on it. I must be missing something. Why?

kitey fit for experimental doctrine. Obviously if it's just meant to be a tiny naga you'd just fit tracking computer and damage rigs

Hmmmm. Here's the trade offs:
- 25% less DPS (124 vs 146)
- 50% more EHP (5459 vs 3723)
- 66% less sig radius (130 vs 390)
- 33% more speed (2199 vs 1644)
- 280% more cost (15M vs 42M) [Corm is 1/3rd the price]
- Defensive ewar (~50-70% chance of working)

Honestly, my money is on the Harpy utterly destroying the Cormorant. But in a 30 vs 30 fight the Harpies will lose the apparently all-important ISK war (if you neglect looting the field).

it is a good idea to keep your guns and speed up for a while, as small little funkers like to chase you around

Sniper corm is excellent for RvB, I'd say Harpy is better but actually costs alot more.

Rail harpy is better used as a badassmobile than a sniper.

If you're just going to cruise around by yourself and pick off targets of opportunity that are engaged in FW, a Harpy would serve for that purpose in the sniping role. If you're going to rock a gang, I'd go with Corms, damn near identical damage projection at a fraction of the cost.

Zarnak has a pretty cute Corm fit though, might take a look-see sometime.
