Comand ship hull appearance.

As we've been told, Command Ships are being rebalanced.

No more distinction between Field and Fleet ships, as well as similar boosting and combat capabilities for both the ships of a race.

Thus, to avoid making them too similar, each race's ships will probably use different weapon systems.
This has been said by CCP.

Following this tendency, i would like to propose another way to differentiate them.

Why don't we base them on two different hulls for each race?

Each ship would be unique, in both its looks and combat capabilities.

The pattern would be such:

Amarr
1) Absolution: energy weapons, based upon the Harbinger hull.
2)Damnation: drones and missiles, based upon the Prophecy hull.

Caldari
1)Nighthawk: missiles, based upon the Drake hull.
2)Vulture: hybrid weapons , based upon the Ferox hull.

Gallente
1)Astarte: hybrid weapons, based upon the Brutix hull.
2)Eos: drones and hybrid weapons, based upon the Myrmidon hull.

Minmatar
1)Sleipnir: projectile weapons, based upon the Hurricane hull.
2)Claymore: missiles, based upon the Cyclone hull.

This is a merely aesthetic changement, with no influence on the current/future meta; it only brings some variety, besides following the ingame BC progression logic.

A Zealot is a harder Omen, a Deimos is a better Thorax, a Jaguar is a faster Rifter.

Let's make the Sleipnir a stronger Hurricane.

Bump to the top: can't believe no one else wants this to happen.

I think this has been proposed before ... but yes i would like all T2 ships to be more distinctive but more than just based on T1 hulls like rifter - wolf/jaguar ... a unique model would be nice loosely based on the T1 version.

'Tech3 ships need to be put down, like a rabid dog drooling everywhere in the house, they are out of line' CCP Ytterbium Nerf missile range into place where is the TD missile change?  ..projectiles should use capacitor. ABC's should be T2 HABC and nerf web strength its still too high

there is historical justification for this, they made some hull changes in the past to remove identical t2 hulls, hell, they even created custom hulls for the stealth bombers. This sounds like a great idea to be added to the t2 re-balance.

All the skins for this exist in the game files already so it's not exactly a big leap either.

I'd love to see more variety in the battlecruiser sector, including eventual navy/pirate ships, but i'm afraid that an angel battlecruiser would be totally overpowered.

+1, however: this is a simple, elegant idea, with no impact on the ingame mechanics.

Navy BCs are supposed to be coming in Odyssey.

Personally, I want to see all T2 ships get the stealth bomber treatment. I want to see all of them get reworked hulls based on the T1 frame but funked up.

this would have a slight impact due to the colour change as befitting their creator (notice the colour differences between all classes of a certain hull, and start looking at the other ships produced by those manufacturers) this would no doubt take time away from other development.

NEVERTHELESS - SUPPORTED

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

How the ships look is really important. I'm aware how resource-intensive hull design is, but in a game about spaceships, the spaceships are very damn important indeed.

I'd love to see unique designs for all T2 hulls. Based on T1 hull shouldn't mean it's the same hull with different colours. Ik, some hulls have minor changes here and there, but what they did with stealth bombers was ideal.

This would be cool, I'd rather a reddy gold harbinger than a space chicken.

I rather have a set of new command ships instead of just switching models around. Why only go a half step?

Sure we all like new stuff but model swapping is easy with the V3 models, its a good start.

Just gonna point out if you kept up to date, you'd know that NAVY battlecruisers are already slated for the summer expansion. Google Eve PAX east. It's like 10 minutes through.

Yeah, I can see the navy ones coming (most likely harbinger/drake/myrmidon/hurricane), but I'm still hoping for pirate ones, sooner or later.
They'd be really great.

Because these skins already exist and would be nearly zero effort to implement, whereas making new models would require a diversion of the art team from whatever they are doing now to make new fancy ships.

Granted, they did it for bombers so I guess they might eventually. But in the mean time they could shuffle some numbers and file names around to implement this.

Great idea.

Though can the Absolution Harbinger please be black? It would make no sense based on ship manufacturers and painting schemes but I don't care. I want a black laser ship that's as sick as the Absolution.

If not, then at least go through with these changes

I know that all of this looks irrelevant, compared to the incoming changes, but it's still a good idea, in my opinion.

I fully support this. It has never made sense that the command ships haven't had this now. (I imagine it's because the other tier of BCs didn't exist when the command ships were made). +1
