I think I'm doing it wrong...

Hello all,

Having signed up to EVE just before Christmas, I'm now merrily approaching my 4 month birthday. My flailing attempts at working out how to actually play this game however have led to the dawning realisation that trundling around hi-sec doing missions, dreaming of the day where I can trundle around hi-sec doing slightly harder missions, probably isn't all that EVE has to offer (though I'm happy to be corrected here).

The first attempt I made at doing something different however involved scanning down a wormhole, trying to shoot it, then realising the error of my ways and flying through in an Algos with no probe launcher attached. Luckily however once I was through to the other side I managed to warp to a celestial without bookmarking said wormhole, and then made the somewhat bold decision to try and "fly back the way I came". At sub-warp.

In my defence I would like that to point out though that I was cap stable at all times.

Anyway, having moved on from this setback by deciding to trundle around hi-sec for a while doing missions, I thought that the way forward might be to, you know, "actually try and interact with the other people playing the game". Having first toyed with the idea of secreting myself within the flabbily anonymising folds of a giant carebear corp, I realised that this probably wasn't for me: I'd like to try out what this game actually has to offer, and even though I'll undoubtedly need a grown-up to hold my hand for a while, I'd like to do so in the company of some likeminded people that perhaps don't subscribe to quite as much Serious Business when it comes to applications and the like (I'm currently studying for my PhD, and genuinely found securing this place easier than the process of applying to some of the larger corps in EVE - which weirdly sort of makes me like this game even more).

In-game I'm currently based in Jel (no, I don't know why either) but there's no real reason not to relocate. I recently did my first respec so that I could get all the BC skills I need before Odyssey, but did try to get some decent fitting skills (T2 active armor and passive shield tank, T2 light and medium drones) in the bank beforehand. My trundling involves using a Brutix and a Noctis; I can do L3s easily and L4s whenever I feel like a change of pace (to "glacial"). I also shot some rocks for a while in a Retriever, until I realised this was precisely as much fun as it sounds. My chap's at 5.5mil SP overall.

Out of game I'm currently based in London (no, I don't know why either), though "internet spaceships" probably won't prove a good enough reason to convince my partner to relocate. I'm in my late 20s, with decent social skills (T2 running jokes) and a working knowledge of how appropriate it is to use the acronym YOLO. My gaming trundling involves using BF3 when I feel like a change of pace (to "I feel a thousand years older than these people"). I also spent some time in Anarchy Online as a teenager, until I realised that this was actually far more fun than it sounds, and my friends staged an intervention once I renounced sunlight and my social life deteriorated into a fetid swamp of ruin. My chap's at [REDACTED: justification being that if you ever need to ask the question, then the answer's usually "No, a penis joke isn't the way forward here"] overall.

If there's any corp out there then thinking: "What we desperately need right now is someone who doesn't know what they're doing to login and start dumping text walls on us" then please do get in touch and tell me a bit about yourself. Like I say, I'd like to try a bit of everything, and I think I'd probably suit a slightly more mature group given my propensity to favour random vomits of verbosity over unconvincing attempts at using the word "swag" correctly in a sentence. I'd also like to find a way to write this post which doesn't make me feel like I'm writing a lonely-hearts column, but you can't have everything.

TL;DR: 5.5mil SP toon w/ GSOH seeks hisec similar for friendship, possibly relationship #YOLO #SWAG

Do two things for me. Apologize for the "YOLO SWAG", and be willing to learn. Then we can talk about recruiting you.

Win. Bump. Putting YOLO and SWAG in the TL;DR version is no less than those people deserve.

I'd invite you to a conversation about Vicis Inter Astrum. We've got two from the UK and the rest are in US TZ, however; I'd understand if you're seeking something closer to home.

Brave Newbies is a corp full of noobs, and not-so-noobs who take almost nothing seriously. We are having a #$%& ton of fun in new eden. We have a good amount of folk in the uk/euro timezone. We mostly do pvp and we have fleets everyday, but we do have other people doing a little of everything else.

We moved to lowsec not too long ago and we're loving it. So, that may be a deal breaker but low sec is waaaay better than high sec.

I'm going to leave this here.

I like verbose people and I tend to ramble in mails, so I've started always including a TL;DR subsection at the top.

We are recruiting Euros as well, and if you are interested in wormholes with a more european tz focused corp I can you point you to some very good, newbie friendly ones.

I won't make you use Swag in a sentence ever. Lol

Mail sent in game with more info.

Best recruitment post ever - reading it was incredibly fascinating! You sir are gifted.

I'm in a USA based corp that runs a C5 wh at the highest level, but always has a C2 static for lower level players. We also have a great group of pvpers to fly with in low sec.

Big Kicker for you. We're USA TZ - Solution is that we're allying with another group that is primarily EU based and has similiar ideas about how to play this game.

If you are interested we're looking for pilots that enjoy the challenge of small gang pvp, especially in w-space combat flying super nice ships, but also interested in being self supportive by running C5/C2 combat sites or doing industry in w-space.

Let me know if you are interested.
