Channel passwords should NOT require a modal dialog

The dialog box that asks you for a chat channel password currently prohibits you from operating any other part of the EVE Online client until the dialog box is dismissed. Please change this so that other parts of the client can be used while waiting for a chat channel password.

Speaking generally, if ANY part of the interface is prohibiting the user from working with another part of the interface without a clear and logical dependency, then that's bad. The window where a user picks an assemblyline for manufacturing also prohibits using any other part of EVE Online until it's dismissed; this is also bad, and it should be limited to only blocking the user from using windows that depend upon the Science & Industry job in question.

Thank you for reading.

supported, and presumeably this wouldn't be too hard to implement, maybe even only removing lines of coding

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

I think that logging on to a chat channel should work a bit more like a telnet login, the channel window should open and a password prompt should appear, and any text entered into the input box while this prompt is open should appear as asterisks. Once you password in, it should work as normal.

But yes, so much +1 for this idea.

Agreed - indeed, one time I got invited to a password-protected chat channel and this had the effect of blocking me from convoing the guy and to ask for the password (to say nothing of possible abuses like inviting people to password-protected channels while they're trying to do stuff). I would very much like to see this fixed.
