Prices: Oracle vs. Armageddon

Was comparing prices today, because I will be able to fly any battlecruiser in a few days time. These are currently market prices at Amarr Homeworld system:

Oracle: 74 mil isk
Armageddon: 81 mil isk

I expected the price differential to be a lot more than just a few mil. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Armageddon - a battleship - is significantly better than the Oracle in almost every meaningful battle-oriented category. It has much more shield. It has much more armor. It has much more structure. It has a drone bay, where as the Oracle doesn't. On and on.

Okay, the Oracle is faster and more agile (but then again so is a frigate). Okay, the Oracle takes less training to get into, but let's be honest. If you can train Battlecruiser to 3 for an Oracle, you can train Battleship to 1 in relatively short order afterwards.

This isn't a complaint, and I'm all for the free market dictating prices. I was just curious is all. Any explanations? Or do folks think these prices are 'fair,' and why?

Can't kite in a geddon. Not successfully anyway. That's the difference.

Other than that I guess noone buys geddons?

Chocked on my tea reading this...Thanks Lol haha

Personally I would go Armageddon, but only if you have the support skills to go with it... I'm a sucker for that DPS powerhouse and sweet looking hull Smile

They're clearly unfair.

I demand that Armageddon manufacturers begin charging more for their goods AT ONCE!

Prices for T1 goods are largely dictated by mineral values. I am not familiar with what it takes to build an Oracle vs an Armageddon, but if I had to guess, their similarities in price are due to them requiring similar amounts of materials. This may change due to the tiericide of battleships this summer (to even out material costs, which was a stated goal of tiericide), so you don't have to deal with it much longer.

Also, as a side point: the Oracle is better than the Armageddon in the "speed" and "doing damage from range" departments. The former because it's an attack battlecruiser, and the latter due an optimal range bonus.

Armageddons are the cheapest Amarr battlship class ship. Oracles are the highest tier Battlecruisers. So you have the worst battleship available, compared to the best battlecruiser. I've not worked it out but I think that the armageddon pretty much sells for its mineral value, wheras the oracle sells a little above its mineral value as it is a very popular ship in fleets. Although the armageddon is a good ship, compared to an apocolypse it is not as good and is therefore not used as often.

Doesnt matter. Geddon prices will rise soon with upcoming geddon changes.
