The most British women in the world died .
Whose every word morphs into a chip butty as is passes through the air. What?
Who do we look to next?

Keep it civil in here please, regardless of personal opinions a woman is dead.

That said, she will not be receiving a state funeral it seems.

I'd imagine if they provided a state funeral for her half of the UK would erupt in riots.

I apologize. it seems I am not well informed. With respect to the deceased, I personally have only positive connotations associated with that name.

Liverpool was second city of Britain.
Thatcher came.
Liverpool wishes it could be Detroit.

She was president Reagan's best friend, and to a good chunk of the planet, they're just a couple steps above of Adolf the meme-maker in terms of despicability. What?

Well to be honest... the Poll tax thing was pretty unfair but she has shown to be a great leader in times of crisis .
No matter the Falkan wars or the colonial handovers or even the economic revival of the entire country .

Credits where its due , she served her country well. What?

That seems ridiculous.
Comparing a woman who's economic policies differ from yours to an extreme social darwinist is absolute bullshit.

In any case, she died peacefully and lived a long successful life. Not tragedy in my opinion, but still, she was a great woman.

I give it less than two days before a union boss end up in the papers for a "dancing on her grave" comment.

She is being cremated, probably to stop people disrespecting her grave.

She is adored in some circles, and despised in others. Deregulation has not improved the British economy, the recent collapse indicates that. Most of the increase in GDP went to the top bracket, the majority outside London has stagnated and in many cases reversed.

I would not be surprised to see one of the RNs new frigates called HMS Iron Lady

Certainly a very controversial figure, but there is no doubt that the entire UK is a different place utterly than before her 'reign'.

And during the 80's the combined conservatism of her and Reagan at the same time seemed ominous to a lot of folks, understandably.

But, she was indeed a very powerful figure and image.

Edit: Anyone else remember the Genesis video with puppets ?

The Iron lady who sent the Royal Navy on the Argentinians when they flexed their muscles. Not just to get them off the Falklands but to encircle the enemy and force a surrender.

She had fortitude. I liked her... Had no idea she was still alive to be honest.

The movie about her was good too. Meryl Streep as the lead.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

A film that singularly brought up the dialogue about if we are handing out Oscars to the best actors, or the best imitators......

Oscars have nothing to do with good movies, They are a specific set of awards for a specific set of "Oscar bait" movies (see Kings Speech and so on)
