Your graphics card is (i think) slightly better than mine, but I have 2gb more RAM than you and a better OS (w7). I run three clients (on two monitors) at max settings in windowed mode just fine. Until recently, that is. I think one of my RAM sticks is dying.

My computer can easily handle multiple clients except for one thing - Vista 32bit OS.

It's 64bit capable but it would require a total reinstall of vista to do that and it's too much hassle just to run multiple accounts for one game, to me anyway.

Anyone here actively use 3 accounts at a time? I am currently running 2 and they work fine. What type of specs are needed to run a third, I don't want to upgrade a 3rd account only to find I cant run them at once.

what does it take to run 3 accounts?

an unhealthy obsession with an MMO

1 account FTW

joking aside, you can push eve through with a good CPU and ram, lowering the settings and this game is very light on the GFX card

It seems windows XP cannot handle running 2 accounts, 1 on each screen. I am only able to triple box via the alt tab method.

I petitioned it and the final answer was XP not being able to render stuff correctly.

I have a 1GB DDR5 Nvidia 560ti, which isn't the problem.

I think EVE is more CPU demanding rather than the graphics card.

I used to run 4 accounts on one computer (1 Orca, 3 Hulks), one screen, in windowed mode with windows XP, A 8600GT, 2 GB RAM, and AMD Dual core (forget which one) with little issues. Just had to make sure I had the graphics turned down. This was when the Orca first came out, so dunno, Carbon might have changed things with XP.

Naw can't be xp/carbon related, im dual screening two accounts under xp with an ati5750 2.6ghz c2d and 2 gigs of memory and everything is pretty smooth, I can get a third client up and running and it's still reasonably smooth if I drop all the settings right down.

The BIG performance issue I have, is if one of the clients is positioned in such a way that it spans the two screen, even if it's just the frame of the window by a couple of pixels, this is enough to cause a massive nose dive in fps. iirc I had the same issue with my 8800gts before it died, this isnt really an issue anymore since they added the "fixed window" option.

You could always test it by sending yourself a buddy invite. And keep an eye out for that quafe-tastic power of 2 promotion.

i can run up to 8 accounts in windowed mode with maximum graphic settings (only AA is disabled) at 1024x768. i have 8GB RAM, a Quad Core Q9300 CPU, a Radeon 5870 and Win7. Each EVE instance needs about 550MB RAM.

Vista can be nasty. Win7 would help I think.

In any case, I think you'd be able to run 3 accounts fine at lower settings. Maybe try raising the settings and see how your computer handles it. Just do the Ctrl-f to switch the fps thing on and off to check how you're doing.

Get a 30' monitor with 2560x1600 resolution. With current gen mainstream CPU and a current gen enthusiast gfx card you'll be able to run 4 clients side by side with no problems. You should have more than 4GB of RAM, though.

i run 4 clients with no lag/problem whatsoever. put all the settings to lowest settings, use lowest resoultion screen to place clients side by side. i can run them in max but i just put it down so i dont eat up to much computer resources.

i use AMD phenom II X4 970 (quad core), Geforce GTX 560 TI, and 8gb of dual channel memory.

i built this machine about 7-8 months ago. probably can build the same one for cheaper now.

Im running two clients on lowest graphic settings on my crappy laptop with extra cooling. Its doable but it does heat up the room better then the central heating, and you can bake eggs on the cover.

Currently working my way back to a game system. Bear

Running 3 clients windowed mode and maximum details, no problem.

Specs:

Both screens 1920*1080
corei7 960 3,2ghz
12gb ram
Geforce GTX 580 1536 mb
SSD drive
Windows 7 64bit

Ps: With aero activated your max-fps is 40. So turn it off if you want higher. I haven't found a way to set higher max-fps in windowed mode with aero activated. I usually have 120fps on all three clients with aero off.
