In reality, having windows on any ship reduces it's hull/armor strength.

Star Trek/Gate/Wars/etc is that way---------------->

I thought they looked ok on SISI. Have. Look there and see what you think when you get to spin them yourself.

Star Trek windows are transparent aluminum, not glass.
Stargate windows are probably reinforced by some sort of energy field.
Star Wars is whatever...

You do realize that capital ships are really really big, right? As in, any window that was actually visible would also have to be really big. Windows the size of buildings.

If you see the screenshots you can see the little blue lights / dots were tiny, and I know the capitals are big, this thread covers aesthetics, not functionality.

Any good reason why giant spaceships are unlikely to have giant, building sized windows?

Caldari definately needs more colors, blue "dots" could do the job. otherwise the look of all ships is just grey in grey boring ****.

Edit: hopefully this won't be the beginning of a nerdy discussion about windows and hull strength. just let's assume in times where spaceships like those can be built, there are also transparent materials as hard as tritanium Pirate.

Stargate windows are indeed reinforced with energy fields. Some are pure energy.

Star Trek windows are made up of a component called transparisteel.
