When I live in highsec I dont seem to have voice coms open. I currently live in Null and have 4 oog voice programs loaded, 2 of them are running right now. Do you have voice comms up? Where do you live?

Alternatively you could just setup one big mumble server and setup channel command. There is no reason to have 30 different voice clients just to get two fleets talking to eachother. This isn't the early 90's.

in lowsec we are used to write letters or postcards, but postcards are not considered as secure channels

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Provi bloc has some mumble hold outs and I have the others from my time in FW. But the more I use mumble the more it seems to be the answer.

For players that use voice coms its part of the game, but I think there's a good % of people who don't bother. I wonder how many of them live in Highsec.

Not much difference in high or null with voice. There's little to chose from. -_-

If you're a multi-gamer you'll have at least Vent; Mumble; Teamspeak; Skype voice coms installed, and any will be used. I'm on vent 24/7 as it's cheaper than a cellphone with family. Use TS3 in BF3 and other games. Mumble almost exclusively for EvE. Skype for quick matches.

Posting in stealth "we're better than highsec cause we use voice coms" thread.

I thought everyone knew that people in highsec don't use voice coms.

I actually don't write stealth threads. Answers are more interesting than opinions, and so I do my best to ask questions or make points in clear concise language. If there is ambiguity you need only ask for clarification.

Hisec -- (in general) "We have TS3!" (or Vent/mumble/whatever). Go to log on, and not a soul there. even when there's 20 people online.

"Hey guys, WTF why aren't you on TS"
- Don't have a mic
- Don't have it
- WTF is TS?

Lowsec -- IDK, never flew with a true lowsec crew. Though when I was in Empire, the people who would roam were more apt to getting on TS all the time.

Nullsec - TS/mumble/vent/jabber/whatever. People are on even when not logged in, and usually ready to go at a moment's notice.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Okay. Can you please tell us in concise language if this is indeed a stealth thread? I wasn't sure from your post, if you really do write stealth threads and you're trying to cover it up by saying you don't write them or you were actually saying that this isn't a stealth thread.

Opinions aren't answers or are opinions just not interesting answers?

High Sec you typically get punished for working together by the game mechanics (Since you don't need to team up to do lvl 4 missions, & teaming up typically dilutes the payments per hour for each person vs solo). The only exceptions are mining fleets & orca boosts. & Incursions.
Incursions noticably have alive voice coms.....
Null Sec, you get punished for being solo by game mechanics. So Null Sec has alive voice coms....

What this says is that game mechanics that encourage team play encourage voice coms.
Game mechanics that punish team play, discourage voice coms.

don't know why people don't like the ingame voice thingy. used it several times for live events and it has been perfectly fine.

Because if the eve client crashes, you also lose your voice.

If you use an oog voice comms, you can tell the FC you're disconnected

Anyway: Voice comms useage isn't the cause of the difference between 0.0 and hi-sec, it's just a symptom of the far greater pressure to be organised and in continual contact that exists in 0.0. There's virtually never a need to even talk via chat channel in hi-sec, never mind voice.
