webcam portrait option.

first off i said option. so anyone who doesnt want it dont turn it on. simple.

now for the idea.

it would be a nice option for players in a corp/alliance/group of friends to have an option to show their webcam as a portrait to permitted people.

to prevent lag or any other problems it might be an idea for ccp to create a seperate programme which is similar to teamspeak etc but for cams which has access to eve on the personal computers of the people that want to run the webcam portraits and then changes the portrais of those in your friends list on the programme.

Because it:
a. Would be a lot of extra work for the devs
b. Wouldn't actually add anything to Eve (if you want to see your corp-mates IRL, use Skype)
c. Would almost certainly introduce a security hole

Because it breaks immersion, is a waste of dev time, raises a whole load of privacy issues and doesn't actually have any positives for the game?

Just read the thread title and wanted to post something similar to that.

So... No. Just no. I think I'd rather keep my low opinion of a sizeable part of the EvE community than just be shown by their portraits that I'm right.
