Greetings folks, I'm in confusion here.

Today I was playing EVE as usual, and in the local channel a person gave some salvaging offer or whatever nearby. I told him I don't trust him since he had 12 million of a bounty on his head.

So another person comes in and tells me it doesn't matter, I reply by saying that he must've done something to get a bounty that high.

Anyway, the second guy doesn't like my reply and places 55 Million on my head. I asked him why and he replied "It's hilarious" even though I didn't reply with anger, swearing or anything.

I reentered the channel just some minutes later and everyone started shouting "There he is! Everyone bounty Alex!" so now I got 58 Million, maybe higher on my head for no reason. Never asked for it to begin with. But that's not the issue.

How do I lose this bounty? I just started the game and it's frustrating to know that people will want to suicide gank me maybe or do something. If I seem stupid here, sorry but I need help.

My friend says to just make a new character but I don't think that's a good choice.

Thank you.

You can create an alt and use it to repeatedly blow your ships up until the value of the bounty formula equals your loss

Don't sweat having a bounty. I'm currently sitting at a billion bounty and I sleep just fine at night.

Bounties aren't a free pass to kill you on sight. They're simply a reward for other players who happen to be in a position to kill you. They would've killed you regardless if they had the ability, but now they get a small chunk of change for doing so. It's not much, only about 30% of what your ships worth is awarded to your assailant should he manage to pop your ship.

After I believe 3 months, a bounty placed on you that hasn't been claimed gets refunded back to the person who started it. You should be fine regardless. Don't let this bother you because more than likely it will have zero effect on your play style.

I don't know, I don't want to grind and mine for days, get a good ship and get destroyed in a half second because some guy wasn't even aware that he won't get the whole bounty.

I understand EVE is a harsh game and I appriciate that but I would just like to go around without 58 million on my head , it lightens the heart so to say.

Did you learn a lesson about the meaning of bounties then?

Losing ships to other players will gradually clear your bounty. That's it.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Assuming you're in hi-sec, then running into someone who thinks that a bounty is a free pass to attack you is like winning a prize; CONCORD will bbq him, and you'll get to scoop his loot.

People but bounty on random strangers in order to see if their lack of understanding will produce some entertaining reactions. The way to not get bounty is to not react entertainingly to your own misunderstanding of the implications. The way to get more bounty is to carry on complaining and moaning about it.

As said above: the way to lose bounty is either to lose ships or to wait for the bounty to expire.

Though I am a low down dirty pirate awoxer, I can tell you that a 58 mil bounty is not THAT big of a deal. Most of my bounties came from people slinging 100+ mil bounties at me. You're not the only person in EvE to have a bounty in the tens of millions. Not to come off as insulting, but your bounty is peanuts compared to most other bountied players.

On a side note, if you have to "grind" anything in this game to get anywhere, you're playing this game wrong. Mining (especially in highsec) is considered a crappy activity because of how boring it is, how uninteractive it is, and how often the job is taken over by illegal automated bots. This upcoming expansion *may* pour some love on to the profession of mining, but I doubt it. It hasn't seen much love since the game began back in 2003.

Transporting goods for sale deep into lowsec is by and far more profitable than any mining you can do (provided that you know where you're going, you've got a cloak and a scout to lead you in). You can easily charge double or even triple what it cost you at a trade station and they WILL buy it purely because of convenience. Few players who live in deep low/nullsec are willing to travel 70+ jumps round-trip to a trade station just to save a couple million ISK.

bounties are based on the price of your loss and as a new player your going to be in cheap ships and no one is going to bother with you for the tiny pay out. If someone is noobish enough to think they can freely shoot you just because you have a bounty they are probably too noobish to succeed before CONCORD turns their ship into fireworks....

Bolded and underlined is the sole reason why I place minimum bounties on everyone I meet. Most of the time I get no reaction or "you're cool dude /eyeroll". Every now and then I get somebody who just blows up in rage which makes the effort totally worth it Big smile

How to get big bounty for dummies.

Ask in local what bounty is.
Whine when someone places obligatory 100.000 ISK bounty on you.
Ask in help chat how to get rid of bounty -> Get more bounty.
Make Eve GD post about your bounty -> Get more bounty.

while (CurrentSelectedTarget.Status == ShipStatus.Alive) {

     _myShip.FireAllGuns(CurrentSelectedTarget);

}
