Idea: Player owned stations with PvP alert button

After living in 0.0 for some time I've noticed that most alliance members would only be at their computer and ready to go during CTA's (Call To Arms) or right after. Usually the stations in my alliances have anywhere from 10-40 people afk most of the time. When people were needed to form up on a short notice for a fleet to break up an enemy gang camping our solar systems we would get minimal numbers due to people being afk and unable to hear comms from the afk channels. I am here to suggest a Fleet Form-up Alert button for the Alliance owned stations.

The said button would appear as another station service that the station manager would be able to manage and give certain people the right to use it when needed. When used the said button would then send a station-wide alert stating a Fleet is forming and members are needed (Voice alert). (or a more appropriate alert message)
I believe this would be a very useful tool for Fleet Commanders and Null sec. alliances everywhere.

For example: An enemy fleet is roaming in our area and I as a Fleet Commander formed a fleet and only a hand full joined up compared to the enemy having a large number of ships. I then proceed to announce that more fleet members are needed in the Alliance chat but nobody responds to it because they are afk and still have their game running. After not receiving any replies or other people have not joined my fleet, I proceed to click the "Fleet Form-up Alert" button and send an audible prerecorded Aura voice message throughout the station to alert people that a fleet is being formed up and requires more ships.

(If this was already suggested, I'm sorry for the re-post as i haven't found it)

how would afk people hear this?

if your ratters are out ratting, how would they hear this? (they are not in the station)

And if you have tons of people blowing off fleet call in alliance, what is this going to do besides go man this dude is really f'ing annoying. Nullbears gonna nullbear...

Well that and insert the "eve has sound?" comment. You are assuming people actually have sound turned on.

Want more peeps on ops, be or tell a corp leader to jack up corp tax to 100%. Corpies will whine and moan....but they will either fight or your corp will be making some damn isk lol.

The afk people would hear this, if they have speakers on and their sound enabled in eve. If you don't have anything to say apart from bashing my idea with your hate than don't say it.

How are AFK people going to hear the sound from the computer? I mean, when I go AFK it's usually because I'm leaving the room, not because I'm sitting six inches from my PC just waiting for something interesting to happen. And I don't keep the sound turned up loud enough to annoy the rest of the folks in my home when I'm not sitting at my keyboard just in case some noise alerts me to something interesting happening.

This is like putting a screen door on a submarine. It's a pointless exercise that accomplishes nothing useful.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

I am not bashing it...I am pointing out this be a feature of no real use. I even presented a viable solution to your problem. One that is effective and cannot be worked around. 100% tax rate works.

If people are blowing off fleet calls, you aren't changing that. Unless you tax 100%. I have seen this done many times. There is no way to avoid it short of stopping ratting till its dropped again...or go mining lol. Fight, log off or hide on an empire alt. Otherwise 100% of your 20+ mil per tick rat farming is going to corp. have your corp try it....it works wonders to get people in fleet.

Your use of sound idea...has so many workarounds its a case of why bother coding it.

I have not turned on eve's sound in years. I am not the only one...

Even if I had sound turned on, when I did null sec I used voice comms with a headset/mic setup. I have a little one running around the house. What is said in TS he did not need to hear, some of the stuff made me go daaaamn and at my age I'd thought I heard or said everything foul possible lol. Your warning would be going to this headset. I don't crank up my headphone volume to hear them from 20 feet away.

I dont live in null anymore, but i still dont turn on eve sound unless im in a live event that needs eve voice or something. even then, id expect a notification like the one you are suggesting to be on ts

and always spam the fleet advert

Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.
