Question about Refining and Corp/Faction standings

Take this situation:

I have a high corp standing with the Home Guard, and through them I achieve high faction standings with Caldari State through storyline missions.

Now lets assume I refine with the Caldari Navy, does my high faction standing with the Caldari State make it efficient for me to refine there, or do I need to separately raise my corporation standing with them as well?

Just confused as I know that a high faction standing can make agents available even though you have no corp standing with them, and I though the same principle may apply to taxes on refining.

Any advice would be appreciated,

Drew Cordova.

I will take a stab at this and say your faction standings will not help with refining at all. Only your personal standings with the Corp that owns the station matters for refining.

Refining Standing:

As far as I can tell, faction standing doesn't affect refining fees.

It's only the standing between you and the corporation that owns the station that has any effect, it does seem a bit strange at first that the faction standing has no effect since effectively the whole family like you. It doesn't mean that each family group will do work for you for nothing, just that they will let you do higher class work for them if that makes any sense.

Emma is correct, it is your standings with the corporation owning the station that matter. Faction standing is useful for the following however:

1. "Instant" agent standings for any corp in that faction (as agents check all three)
2. POS anchoring (need 10x system sec level for 0.5-0.7 ... so 5.00-7.00)
3. COSMOS and tag agents (again, for the same reason as other agents)
4. probably other stuff that I don't remember.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

as others have said, faction standing won't help with the refine, only corp standing will. however, faction standing can help you improve your corp standing faster, by allowing you to use the higher level agents for that corp from day 1. so you won't need to grind through lvl 1 & 2 agents; depending on faction standing you may even be able to start our with lvl 4 agents from the beginning. this can really cut down on the amount of time it takes to get to the 6.67 you'll need for a perfect refine.
