Wat?
What level missions?
What are the skills?

Generally minmatar ships are the best for missions, so train them.

Whatever.

If you're starting at Level 1, you can go pretty far in a Rifter (assuming combat missions are your thing)

Missile boats are pretty slick but if you're starting early in the game without a metric crap-ton of skillpoints, I'd suggest sticking to one race for the time being until you really master some of the lower-level ships. If you start with a Rifter and then skill up to fly a Wolf/Jaguar, you'll do really well for a while.

Those ships (wolf/jaguar) can run level 3's pretty easy if you're good I imagine, and I'm sure someone will jump in and tell me how they ran level 4's all day with a Wolf just 'cause they're insane.

Hope this helps.

Missiles are a good secondary weapon option on Min ships so no real need to train another race's ships. This couple with CCP's re-balancing efforts seeming to make a missile specific ship in each class means Min missile ships should be able to get you through up to level 4's relatively easily.

Don't forget the Ladar Sensor Compensation skill... Min ships generally have weak sensor strength which would make them vulnerable to Gurista Jamming more so then other race's ships.

Highly advisable that you either Crosstrain for Missiles or Caldari ships or do missions in a different area. Minmatar ships are fine for Guristas on paper, but in practice, Guristas like or orbit at very long ranges. You're going to have Battlecruisers in Level 3 missions orbitting you at ~35km, which is a massive pain in the ass, and it just gets worse when you get to level 4's where BS will orbit at ~60km.

The Minmatar Missile ships like the Cyclone work fine, but for Kinetic weak rats they're still a step down from their Caldari counterparts.

When I used a Minmatar mission boat against Guristas, my favored loadout was artillery with Phased Plasma, with Titanium Sabot loads for smaller rats. For Level 4 missions, I used a Maelstrom as my go-to boat; even with short-range ammo, 1200's and 1400's had the reach to knock out the long-range Guristas targets.

For Level 3's, a Hurricane firing Titanium from 650mm artillery might work.
