What we heard about Mens Repola negotiating with the Gallente to make Caldari prime a demilitarized zone turns out to be true, as Six of the eight megacorporations have come to an agreement with the Gallente Federation to have all the soldiers on both sides removed from the planet. Unsurprisingly, Tibus Heth does not support this measure, but he's been overruled by the rest of the CEP sans Lai Dai.

I am pleased with this turn of events; there has been enough blood shed over Caldari Prime, and it is good to see that the Gallente aren't repeating past events and trying to steal our homeworld again. I do have to say, given President Roden's political platform during his election and his ties with arms industries, I am pleasantly surprised he has agreed to this.

Obviously I have some concerns over the fact private military contractors will be doing the rest of the clean up and security in the future, and the fact that there are Gallente Naval forces in the area also means they could choose to renege on their part of the deal at any time (I would much rather the entire system be declared a DMZ), but at least they are finally leaving our home world.

EDIT: FUrther details have come in. Caldari Prime will be co-owned and administrated by the State and the Federation with each sovereignty consisting of separate districts, but police from both nations will have no jurisdiction; Mordu's Legion instead being in charge of matters of security.

So long as Caldari Prime is administered by the State, demilitarization seems an acceptable solution. I worry, however, that this deal will collapse if partisans begin reprisal strikes, whether Provist, Black Eagle, or unaffiliated forces.

Indeed. While I am willing to believe neither side is quite as crazy as 200 years ago, the fact still stands, that the events leading to the loss of our home were at least in part instigated by a terrorist attack.

the attempt by Templis Dragonaur vessels to blockade the SuVee aid operation tonight suggests we're not out of the woods as far as crazies go just yet, but it also proves that the level heads who will brook no such nonsense are in the majority.

Makes a nice change.

Let's hope the Insurgency stands down now. If it doesn't, well it's a game that two can play.

Tuulinen-haan; duly noted. Still, I wonder about the implications posed by counter-terrorism operations in a demilitarized zone. At what point does a police action become paramilitary, essentially?

I suspect that is part of the supposed issue with the cargo scans of the Ishukone Corporation freighters. Any aid distribution activity likely needs security, and if the uninitiated saw marines on a scan...

This news is welcome indeed.

The CEP has proven itself reasonable in this regard and I am pleased to see it taking charge with wisdom such as this. (This is meant in the utmost respect).

Now I pray the Federation proves amenable to wisdom as well and follows suit. Perhaps the future may be brighter for both of our peoples yet.

See, this is the nice thing about a big battle.

It's easy to support an extremist platform in peacetime, shouting slogans claiming Luminaire is completely for the Gallente, or that the Caldari should exterminate the Gallente... but the moment a big fight actually occurs, and people shed blood over these slogans, everyone realizes that maybe a moderate, reasonable negotiation is the way to go.

Glad to see that not everyone in the Fed and State are loud-mouthed, pompous windbags.

Oh, and State supporters? There's a certain man in charge of your State who is attempting to impose his will over the will of the Mega CEO's... I don't think I'm out of line in suggesting that you find and execute him. It would certainly avoid a lot of potential complications in the long-term.

The CEP now knows that it only has to give the order to remove the Executor.

DMZ... this was a weak and indecent move, but still it is for better of our people.

Luckily, Gallente Prime and other gallentean territories are not DMZ. We must use it to retaliate them there. While gallenteans have weapons, none of DMZ declarations will provide safety to Home Planet.
Gallentes already show that they break treaties, and we must force them to never break it again.

I will appreciate when gallentes will pay for their atrocity when they dropped our titan on Caldari Prime, killing millions of innocents.

Glad to hear of progress on this front. President Roden has done much to dispel a good deal of my personnel suspicions by supporting this move and certainly restored a bit of my faith in regards to the possibility of peace. It also eases my mind to see the CEP throwing its weight around the way it should.

Don't even bother buddy. You'd probably have more success reasoning with an empty Quafe bottle than with her.

If there is no occupation there is no need for an insurgency. If people have a voice in the government they won't have to resort to violence for redress. But if you would like to continue to trade terror for terror then so be it.

One, we kinda asked for it when we put the damn Titan there, and two, MAYBE you could just shut up and let a fragging DMZ go. There's plenty of other systems to fight over. I fight for The State, but this is just insane.

This is very welcome news. Many people on both sides have worked and advocated for this day to come, some resigned to the conclusion that it probably never would. I know I had only the faintest hope of seeing this kind of peace. To see that hope fulfilled is truly a joy. For those on Caldari Prime, their future can now be one defined by the opportunity to forge the difficult peace between Gallente and Caldari.

Before we celebrate, however, let us not forget the sacrifices that have been made. I, for one, will take this day to reflect on the many lives lost in centuries of conflict over this torn world. Particularly, we must remember those lost in last month's definitive battle. Brave men and women in both the Federation and Caldari Navies, as well as Federal Defense Union and State Protectorate ground forces, fought to defend the lives of their people. Innocent civilians of both nationalities died in the collateral damage that resulted. We must honor their bravery, and not forget the price they paid so that we could have this day of peace.

I would also like to thank those Caldari who supported the call for peace, particularly those who openly opposed the warmongering of Tibus Heth. The Ishukone Corporation, in particular, and those Capsuleers who champion its interests have distinguished themselves greatly in the cause of peace. I can not express enough my respect for their part in this historic compromise.

For the Fallen, and for the Peacemakers: you have my thanks.
