I know if I insure my ship, give it to someone else and it dies with him at the whelm, the insurance is void.

My question is, if he buys insurance for himself on "my" ship, what happens to my own insurance contract?

It knows what you think.

um... the contract on the ship is null and void when you sell it, which is typically before the buyer insures it.

Did you actually answer the question?

I suspect that the insurance would be valid (never tried it) because the insurance would deem the vessel as being owned by the person who has possession - I'm assuming you traded or share via corp hangar.

But your insurance would be void if lost.

Also need to ask if you get the ship back then is your original insurance still valid?

When you attempt to insure a ship that is already insured by someone else a message comes up that it will void the pre-existing insurance contract.

That's what I meant. Direct trade, not selling on market.

I guess my question is, Can there be more than one insurance contract issued to a ship at once?. If the guy buys an insurance contract for himself on "my" ship, what happens to my insurance contract? Does it immediately gets canceled?

It knows what you think.
