Gravimetric Icebelt sites? Why do they not exist?

I was going to put this in the suggestion area, but I find myself asking "why" more than "could you do it".

So we have Gravimetric sites that spawn ore, the lifeblood of all manufacturing. Yet we do not have any Ice Belts that can be found through exploration. So why do they not exist? I would think this would be an option for those who icemine, or for those who live in wormholes, or low, or null, or heck even high. They probe down a site, find its ice, and... well mine it.

Just curious why it's not in game.

OOOOooh...proving the CAUSE of the non-existence of something... that's a pretty tough logical/rhetorical problem to argue over.

It was their decision!

But don't Grav Sites disappear after 2 or 3 days? And from my understanding, in lowsec/nullsec/wormholes, the Grav sites probed out are generally so massive that it would take a armada of Hulk's mining it 24/7 to possibly actually finish it off in 2 or so days?

Because why would you mine in a grav site when you can just mine in a belt... The only flip side to this would be if grav sites had null sec ice in them.. might make worth doing

Yes, if they had Dark Glitter in them especially.

This would not stop ISBoxers but would stop Bots. That's really the only advantage.

There are no probes for ice.

For once your logic is "oops".

There are probes for Grav Sites.

That's where the Ice would be.

Actually, tell the OP. It was his idea.

Edit: also, Ice has mass, therefore, GRAVITY.

A single player with 6 hulks and a rorq running boosts can Cycle a large grav site multiple times in 1 day. Hardly an armada.

Probably the first constructive answer someone gave. That and I would have to agree with that assertion.

Well I figure mining in belts.. That's not what I'm aiming at. I'm curious why they haven't just adjusted the whole ice belt concept, and incorporate them into exploration itself. There are actually people out there who would want to probe out belts, especially lowsec/nullsec/wormhole corporations.

I'm somewhat considering this question more for lowsec, nullsec and wormholes, though I can see this applying to highsec also.

Well hopefully with the mining update, static everlasting ice belts will go and be replaced by ice in grav sites (rings/comets etc.) - redistribution of resources and all that Shocked

If ice was in grav sites, how would you expect the bots to find them?

Hopefully this will be the case.

Some ice belts actually did get nerfed about 4-5 years ago, as there aren't nearly so many in High Sec (at least) as there used to be.

And, as others have said -- ice never realistically depletes. Which, ironically, if it were most other substances people would be screaming "imbalance" and pitching a tantie in Jita over it.

Imagine this commercial for Bacardi and Cola, but for Quafe and Vodka and on a Gallente Pleasure cruiser.
