So what is the EVE equivalent of a 'gold watch' ???

So, we're coming up to the ten year anniversary of EVE which means there will be a growing number of characters in the future who are ten years old. So I was thinking, what should be the equivalent of the corporate 'gold watch' long service award in EVE?

Qualifying rules, of course:

  • Toon is at least ten years old.
  • Pod pilot license must have been paid up for ten years.
  • No character transfer taken place.

  • So a genuine 10-year old character and player partnership, paid up for ten years.

    Requirements for the award:
  • A gift that cannot be traded or just given away in-game, it has to stay permanently with that character and player and will be forfeit if the character is transferred from the original holder.
  • It must not confer the player with a significant in-game advantage over other players.

  • My thoughts: the ability to fly a Concord or Jove ship, together with a gifted ship. Or maybe some form of honorable award that can be worn by the avatar. Or the ability to create a Jove character. Or to become some form of in-game elder statesman.

    Any better ideas?

    Or should they just die?

Another 'I should get (something) back for having subbed for # of years and giving CCP # of $' thread.

Being in game for that long is its own reward.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I would recommend they get a limited edition pink scorpion as a reward. http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/336/c/6/pink_scorpion_by_ausmo1-d4hzsjt.jpg

Anyone who has not stolen or awoxed their own corp should not get a gift. If you cannot help yourself to it then you deserve nothing.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Anyone who has stuck it out for that long without emo-rage-quitting deserves something!

At least they still have all their stuff, (except what got scammed off them on the way).

Funny how people ask for gifts, as long as they don't have to pay them themselves.

Perhaps with the pilot being plugged into Jovian technology for so long, the pilot is "loosing" their prior heritage and becoming more Jove in nature.

    - Their avatar can be altered to appear more Jovian. (and / or)

    - Their avatar can be altered to appear more cybernetic (role playing = skill points translates into non-organic storage as part of the cranium). (and / or)

    - The pilot advanced beyond organic clones and has their skill points in non-organic storage. Thus the player could be rewarded with a permanent storage of perhaps 200 million skill points that can never be lost while beyond that is part of an organic clone that follows the same rules if the 200 million were not there. That is, a player with 210 million skill points and the ten year aniversary would have a 200 million skill point cybernetic bank and an organic clone that covers one point beyond and above that 200 million mark.

    Just some thoughts.

Used to be a Monocle. But Monocles are too cheap now. Let's say 10 sequentially named characters all with Monocle and Silvershore Greatcoat.

Although technically we should be getting CCP gifts, for some reason in the MMO industry it is the other way around thus my money is on the Gnosis.

The tradition of giving a gold watch to an employee is a way of saying "you gave us your time, now we give you ours".

To note, it's traditionally given at retirement, not 10 years. Also, you're the one paying CCP and they are the ones giving you their time to provide you with a working game and free updates.

So, here's how this should go... you retire from EVE, you can give them all your stuff.

Glad we got this worked out.
