The training time will become moot after the skill change up in the Summer expansion. It is going from 40ish days down to 15.... they are removing the mining barge 5 requirement.

Annoys me greatly to be honest.

Agreed. When I first heard of this I was convinced it was wrong. It made no sense. And then the exploits with the ship switching came. That said, I love carrying ships around in my orca. It still makes no sense.
