If idle ISK is bad, what would be a stable investment?

So I returned to EVE after a 4 year hiatus and was shocked how little the ISK I had was worth and how much the Items that I still had were. The Hulk I once bought but never used for example doubled from 100M to 200M. My memory could fail me but I think I might be right on the money. Ok, so I'm not a trader by trade but am now still wondering/worrying about idle ISK.

What's easy to buy, fast to sell and shows inflation the finger?

Plex aren't bad as their 'value' is relatively constant, 30 days of game time no matter when so they should adjust for inflation pretty well.

Avoid NPC or LP items like BPOs and implants as they are tied to absolute ISK values.

Freighters tend to reflex well the status of inflation and are a good investment, IMHO

Of course you could always by a butt load of trit and pyerite.

You can buy a lot of stuff and reasonably expect its price to inflate over time. T2 modules, various ships, minerals, moon goo, etc. The only problem is if you catch something at a great height in price--something like tech from a while back--and then come back to find that it finally reached its "real" price after the hype/speculation came to fruition and the bubble collapsed.

But I'd wager that, for most things, if you buy it at something like an "ordinary" or "stable" price, and then you leave for a year and come back, the price will have gone up.

Don't touch ANYTHING to do with moongoo. If you're going to leave for 4 years, there's a very good chance if its a valuable one, they will change the moongoo spectrum, and your huge investment will be deflated. Especially if they finally come out with some what, 7 year overdue moongoo fix. (Comet mining, Ring mining, whatever they want to call it when they do it.)

Invest in stuff that carries with inflation. Refined minerals, tech 1 ships, ammo, etc.

Yeah, my recommendation of moon goo was probably ill-advised. But the potential upside is that when you come back, the moon goo you chose might be hyped up and worth like 10x what you paid for it. With risk comes reward, I guess. Big smile
