Would have been a 7, but someone mentioned rolling a d20. C'mon, man, get with it. EVE Rpers prefer the bell curve of 3d6.

There used to be a vibrant and noticeable roleplaying community in EVE. I used to run into roleplayers all the time.

They are still there but I think as a percentage of whole they've been diminished. If you are interested in learning more about roleplaying in EVE you can start in the roleplaying subforum: Intergalactic Summit.

I remember running into an Ushra'Khan roleplayer years ago. They were, at that time, the counter to CVA's Amarr-centric roleplaying. Even back then I found CVA's roleplaying to be on the "light side" (in that most of the members of the alliance did not roleplay at all) and I suspect that hasn't changed today although I imagine some of their members do roleplay.

Overall though, the roleplaying community in EVE is very much a minority.

As to the question of why roleplay? 'cause it's fun for some people to do.
