FIrst I have a few question. First is it skins from a predefined selection? If yes, I can get behind this idea.

If it not, and you want to upload your own skins to the server so you can create your own unique look, then no, as that will not only increase the amount of lag in fleet battles, but also it can be abused from hell and back from adult pictures, to eye straining skins....

Or it could be done like those racing games where you pick a color, decals, etc, probably the corp symbol and similar. The question is - is it worth the resources?

I'd prefer them to be predefined.

In essence, I've been playing with the idea of Fashion industry, in EVE.

The basic concept would be around a item that once applied to the ship, could not be removed, and it'd alter your skin t a pre-made EVE skin.

To produce this item, you'd need other items, and therefore an industrial could profit from producing the finished paint-job or from the various multi components, but I've yet to put anythign down on paper or on the forum, but yes, I'd love CCP to allow us to colour our ships. :D

I would love to be able to define a corp/alliance color scheme and have that applied to ships during ops, including stamping the corp and/or alliance logos onto the ship somewhere.

the V3 of all the ships was so they could implement things like this look at the frigates and cruisers and iterons in specific manufacturer colors. i bet it'll be coming winter 2013 after they finish re-balancing Battleships.
