If I want to be somewhat successful with a cruiser, what skills should I train for? I'm going by the certificate for now for general guidelines for skill training. Let's say I am going for a Moa I am currently training for standard turret control and finished basic cruiser hybrid turrets. Should I continue on with hybrid turrets or focus on other skills such as ones that will help with medium and low modules? I am also clueless as to my fittings. I am planning for simply security missions for now and plan to expand from there once I have more understanding of the game.
Thanks.

You'll want to train for shield mods, a t2 dc, max engineering, get weapon upgrades to 4, and start training for t2 guns. Also you may want t2 hobgoblins or warriors for a slight amount mire dps

I would go t2 tank -> t2 gank with support/fitting skills in between.

What I mean is if you can tank rats dps you will have more time to react. Once you know what you are doing scale tank down and increase dps of your boat.

Remember that in PVE cap is life so all those skills helping with ship's cap capacity and regen and skills that take cap consumption of modules down are important. This is especially important if your weapon system also relies on cap (hybrids / lasers).

Don't fit for being cap stable, usually it will just cripple your fit up to a point that your dps will make rats die from laughing at you. Put cap booster in one medium slot and learn to manage you cap and active tank you are using.

You can fly into L4s with t1 guns but you will just burn without t2 tank and support skills. And it is true for lower levels too with a difference of you boat being worth < 50 mill instead of 1.5bil :)
