Suppose I was looking to get a corp +8.0 with Caldari Navy. We have a character at about 4.5 before Connections and nobody else has standings.

Is doing the "Keeping Crime in Check" missions from here by buying the Guristas Copper Tags the fastest way?

Also, why does the mission say 10 or 20 tags?

The fastest way, given what you said about your current member standings, would be to get someone with high standings already to join but you'd probably need to get the 4.5 person to drop corp for a week until the standings go into effect.

The second fastest, given that the 4.5 person is just short of the 5.0 needed for L4 missions would be get them to train Connections III which will take a day or so, then they do some L4 missions, get the whole corp to come along, shoot everything, don't share mission rewards, you could be done in 10 hours if you have some good ship / gun / missile skills.

Re. tags, there is one of the data center missions that has changed and IIRC most of the guides, like evelopedia are still showing the requirement of 10 instead of 3.

Honestly I ground standings with my first toon for JC's. But then for my alts I just used one of the many JC servies that have popped up.

Way easier.

Doing all the datacenter missions will get you to where you can do level 4 missions for the corps in that faction (you may need Connections skill). Then you can either do lots of distribution or security missions to get the standing the rest of the way. Either way, get Social to 5 as that gives a bonus to the standings increases. Distribution missions tend to be quick and boring but give low LP/isk rewards. If you do security missions, you may need help, and sharing the rewards at the end also shares the faction increase, which is probably what you don't want to do.

Copper tags you need 9 of (there are 3 agents that eachwant 3 copper tags). You'll need 20 of each other tag. This can get expensive quickly as some of the tags are very expensive (gurista brass tags were running 13-14M each in Jita yesterray).

Wait, why do I need 20 of each of the other tags? How does this help my standings with Caldari Navy?

There is a list of the agents that takes 20 tags, actually tha majority of them take 20 tags each. But the cost for a corp to do standings this way is prohibitvely exspensive, compared to group fleets doing LVL4's or Epic Arc for caldari after a short grind for Expert Distribution,.

They're expensive. Ppl use them for faction standing, corp standings are easier to come by.

Don't use CN for clones. It's a "huge" sized corp in corp attributes, slow to grind. Everyone and their mother has 0.01 standing with them. The next person that joins your corp will pull your standings down.

Use an obscure "tiny" or "small" sized corp that nobody have standings for, get it up fast on one char, and voila, jc access forever.
