Opening map is crashing client

I've been having this issue for at least a few months now. SOMETIMES when I open the map, my client crashes. This is only half the time. The other half, the map loads up okay. It seems to crash when the map is "getting data". Has anyone else experienced the same problem and/or suggest a solution?
