What do I get out of Dust as a Capsuleer? The Mechanics

What do I get out of it? What do the Bunnies do for the Eggers? I can burn their maps from orbit, which is something I can do for them, but what do I get out of it? As I understand it their currency is not dealing in the billions, so in a weekend a competent trader could flip the Dust economy and quadruple the prices if they plugged Dusts supplies into the joint New Eden economy.

They fight on the surface of a planet on a handful of maps, are these inside PI colonies? Is it worth just burning the colony and starting again instead of paying to defend them? Do I put up a pot to defend me around the clock, or do they just wait on a planet for it to be attacked?

I am asking this from an Capsuleer point of view about a mechanic, not about the game Dust.

Dust Eve integration is at about 2% from eve side and 1% from the dust side.

All eve pilots can do at the moment is bomb faction warfare corporatuion battles which arn't even really worth playing for dust 514 dudes. Simply because there is no real tangable reward for doing so, there are social / bragging rewards but y'know blah blah blah.

CCP are working on Dust 514 core game. Don't expect market/industry/sov warfare interaction for a long time. That being said they are moving forward with planetary conquest in low sec. There might be some room for eve pilots to get involved, but it won't be anything beyond dropping bombs on people tbh.

So to answer your question: Nothing.

Nothing? During the livestream yesterday not 5 miniutes went by without the announcer saying how important Dust was to the joint story of New Eden. I have been ignoring Dust pretty much but paused when he said that. If they got to be so important to the lore without my noticing, where else were they relevant?

The benefit is you get to earn less LP from plexing a system into vulnerable in FW.

It's not really a benefit.

Wrong - Wins and losses in DUST FW systems effect a modifier which either adds or detracts from the capture effect of plexing.

LP rewards remain the same, it just means you can capture systems faster where DUST victories for faction have been won.

Back to original thread, there is no benefit to Eve atm.

Even from a FW perspective, would it not be better to simply spend the time farming another PLEX than hanging around a planet waiting for the chance that someone might ask for an orbital bombardment?

At the moment the ONLY effect is Faction warfare.

In the future, there might be more. Seeing their equipment on our market makes me hopeful we might one day be able to build and sell that equipment for profit.

Yeah DUST is still in beta. It will probably be a long while until CCP gets around to adding everything. I mean hell look how long they've been working on just eve alone.

I haven't really paid attention to Dust/Eve integration. But I thought that the scale of currency was very different in the two games, sufficiently so that an Eve player wouldn't have anything to gain in New Eden for producing Dust goods? I may be wrong...

Hmm, the currency isn't minimal, particuarly if you are selling on a large scale. So more Dust bunnies fighting and dying would be good for industrialists. It would be quite easy to work out the maths, and given that a bunny usually goes through quite a few dropsuits with gear each round, then they could be spending quite a bit, particuarly if they have pay money from large alliances to burn on expensive gear.

It certainly could be interesting, but right now its is practically meaningless which is a missed opportunity. I don't think FPS players have the same attention span to stick around for improvements as your general PC Eve player would have.

The recent battle for Caldari Prime can show the potential for DUST and EVE integration. Only issue now is figuring out a way to make it work without being entirely scripted.

It will be a slow but steady process. Eventually full integration will occur. If things go according to plan, they will practically be different perspectives of the same game.

The only problem is keeping the public interested in DUST. Once the next big shooter comes out, all but the most loyal players will leave DUST behind for it. That is, unless CCP can make DUST the next big shooter.

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!

Give it a couple years, then ask again. Right now, you can build ammo to blast the maps from space. That's it.
