Caldari loaded the gun, Gallente pulled the trigger.

I am a Caldari who spent my pre-capsuleer days trying to truly dissect the past and determine what happened. One thing is for certain in regard to the Caldari Navy. We are not afraid to pull the trigger for our beliefs, nor afraid to die to them. Had the intention of Heth truely been to bombard the planet, they would have ignored all capsuleers and simply dusted the entire Gallente population. Not attempt firing in death throes.

Recent images show how close to the planet they were when fighting engaged. An unusual maneuver. During the attacks, I was assisting in evacuations and medical. I was on the planet both before and after the fighting start. The devastation is insurmountable. The caldari ships were perfectly situated for the debris to disperse across the inhabited zones on their destruction.

Caldari Prime may had been held under the barrel of a very big gun, and the Gallente population isolated. However, there should have been nothing stopping fire from raining down on Caldari Prime, Gallente Prime or the stations in orbit. In fact, the most sound military decision would have been to strike the stations first. Nothing would have stopped them.

The only obvious conclusion is that Heth wanted the Gallente to destroy the ships. The Gallente population has dead all across the planet. Harsh winters means the survivors are in for a fight to live. The opposition to Heth's power will now support him. And the whole populous of Caldari will become unified for a stronger fight vs the Gallente Empire with the ruined home planet of Caldari Prime as their monument covered with the bodies of their martyrs.

Children have to learn the name Yakiya Torvil-Toba. Now they will all learn of the valiant Shiigeru and the fleet who defended the right to their home planet.

Do not believe me? I just finished dispersing a hole the EM noise from the Shiigeru's destruction. Limited communications with the planet should be possible via Neocom again.

Damn Heth's manipulation of the corporations and of public opinion.
He spun Otro Garoushi's death, and he'll spin this. All to remain in power and satisfy some vendetta against the Gallente people.

Damn the Federation for being stupid enough to start a capital ship fight in low orbit over a populated planet.

I guess the death and destruction was always inevitable whether that ship had fired or not.
Would that this never came to pass.

I was fighting there.

We were trying to protect that titan after the Federation warped in and engaged. We were unable to rep the Titan fast enough to keep it out of armor and then out of structure as our logis went down.

I lost my ship while helping the fleet to pound one of the Moroses out of existence. I was unable to reenter after re-shipping due to a spectacular jam at the gate in ... thousands of Caldari supporters were still trying to get into Luminaire when that Titan finally went down.

We did not throw this fight for propaganda purposes.

I too was there.

Our fleet was over 150 strong, but it was not enough to destroy the Moroses fast enough. Although I believed at first that we might win the day, not by our numbering but by sheer determination. As everyone now knows that was not the case.

Im usualy a free killmail.

Apologies, I didn't mean to hint at dishonorable tactics. I meant to cite that these soldiers positioned themself in a fatal weakness that led to the Gallente powers showing their true selves. I was able to evacuate several thousand persons from the planet before the defensive line fell. To win would have been a bigger honor for the Caldari. The military did what was tactically sound, defend the populace. The crews of our isolated capitals did act with honor by not firing on the planet in the end.

However, I no longer reside in the caldari state ever since Heth took power. His control was waning until today. By his words, and most likely a commander in his position's actions, the gallente were more easily instigated.

There is one glaring black mark on the whole incident. Why was Concord getting involved in and empyrean matter and why did they blow up the Concord ship so vauntedly.

The DED chief piloting it disobeyed repeated orders to get the hell away from Caldari Prime.

If the Admiral could not prevent unauthorized ships from violating the no-fly zone, then she should have requested a cyno and removed the fleet.

She had no third choice: Blow the CONCORD ship up for ignoring her commands ... or just get the fleet out. One or the other.

And I too would like to know just what in the hell the DED chief was trying to accomplish.

Once CONCORD announced a blanket suspect flag ( e.i., CONCORD is out of this ), the excrement all hit the fan. Gallente supporter capsuleers started firing on the Titan and it's support fleet. Caldari started shooting back.

And then the Gallente cap fleet warped in and engaged.

The rest is now history.

The DED ship was attempting to prevent mass murder, as it suspected CN Shiigeru was preparing to glass the planet. As it turned out, that was correct. Orbital bombardment of civilians is against the Yulai convention, a treaty which the Caldari State is a part of. Of course, the Caldari State never sticks to treaties when it suits them, but the fact remains that the DED ship had every right to be there, as had already been dictated by the Caldari State itself when it subscribed to the Yulai Convention.

I grew up on Jarizza V. Go ahead and tell me all about how some evil people broke treaties, shot at CONCORD and attacked civilian populations, please.
