Dear CCP: The Punishment does not fit the Crime

Dear CCP:

This concerns kill rights.

I understand the Retribution expansion was supposed to empower the often victimized highsec community. From what I understand, it has. Criminals have to be more creative, and utilize more resources to be half as effective as they used to.

But there are some things that just don't line up. And that's kill rights. Rather, an act of earning a kill right.

As it stands, merely aggressing a player without their consent will evoke a kill right on you. From firing the full battery of your missile bays in your Talwar, to powering through someones shields in a megathron! Down to scratching their paint with an Ibis. If you kill your target without their consent to be killed (war, LE, them suspect, etc etc), then you get a kill right for them to utilize how they please.

Unfortunately this is also true if you scratch someones hull with a newbie laser. If you assault, but fail to kill, you get the SAME punishment as though you had destroyed them. It's worse even. Activating the KR sets you suspect for 15 minutes. And if they fail, the KR resets to ready to use again.

It just doesn't make any sense. Now, the way it is has methods of abuse that I am totally and completely abusing (alts rather). And by time changes are made- IF changes are made, I will have gleaned much joy and isk from it. Unfortunately it just makes no sense what so ever.

Dear "Sense, Kill rights Make None,"

It is unfortunate that you find earning consequences for shooting people who are not legal targets troublesome. I, too, am troubled by your post. However, an attempt to space gank is still an attempted space gank. A spade is a spade. One does not "accidently" earn a kill right in high sec, because when kill rights were implemented, so too was the ever so secure, safety button.

My suggestion for you is to continue abusing the kill right system with your alts, by selling them for however much and having people in trade hubs buy them. Then, while you may not make sense of the system, you will still be at step 6. (Step 5. ????. Step 6. PROFIT!)

Sincerely,

The Sensibles.

P.S. If you're earning a kill right from low sec, you should probably stop shooting pod you don't like it.

I get your point, but I'm talking about the system, not what the system does to me specifically.

Just because someone sucks at ganking doesn't mean they should get a free pass.

Aw...somebody got a killright activated on them at an inopportune time.....

Show us on the ship doll where the lucky carebar touched you.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

This rule only applies to ships in HIGH sec and pods in High/Low.

If you don't want a kill right against you don't change safety in high sec at all. In low sec, just avoid shooting pods.

Edit: Case in point. I have shot lots of people in low sec and even killed them. I have NO kill rights against me at this time.

So because you fail to gank a person you should get a lower punishment?

Hi. :) I'm talking about the mechanics, not my own failings or successes.

Did you know if you shift + Click equipment in a yellow can, even if you don't remove anything, you still get suspect? Does that seem right to you?

Dude how can you carebear this much and post in C&P? Doing dumb things get ya shot, why shoot at someone in anyway, shape, size or form if you dont want to bend over for it.

Why shift click in/on a can if you dont want to bend over?

Especially with the new protection system and its colorful balls. Leave it on green and you cant gank anyone or do something that will make you go suspect and as far as I can tell thats what you want. You want to stay out of trouble.

So leave the magic ball green and thats what you shall recieve.

Don't take away my shift-click! That's how I re-up my suspect timer...
