This test was done by the mysterious US backers of this project today so it may actually be panning out rather than more hype, here's to hoping it's legit and spurns not only a new path to clean and abundant energy but also further research into our understanding of the standard model.

It's a very big deal to have this on wired and some are speculating that the US backer for this may in fact be Google. Time will tell.

The advantage of a bad memory is that one can enjoy the same good things for the first time several times.

One will rarely err if extreme actions be ascribed to vanity, ordinary actions to habit, and mean actions to fear.

Yeah it's hard not to take it with a mountain sized grain of salt, but here's to hoping.

For a start, the US customer remains anonymous. In other words, a group of unknown, unverifiable people carried out tests which cannot be checked.

Secondly, observers apart from the customer were only allowed to view the test for a few minutes at a time and during the entire test the E-Cat remained connected to a power supply by a cable. The external power was supposedly turned off; as a demonstration it would have been more impressive for the reactor in its shipping container to be visibly disconnected while operating.

Of course! This is the first step to renewing the resource of power!

If it isn't peer reviewed, then it isn't a verifiable fact. As the article mentioned, it's an unknown entity making unverifiable claims.

having been in high school way back in the late 80's when this was first proposed by flieschman and pons it piqued my interest and made me beg my physics prof to help me with some tests that had some curious results. nothing substansively conclusive, but curious enough.

here's my beef with the shipping container reactor: they supposedly generated 470kilowatts of heat. this breaks down to approx 4700 100watt bulbs on at the same time generating heat (2% light/98% heat; yes, this is very basic comparison for thought experiment purposes only).

when was the last time you saw anything plastic, like the buckets used to hold water, survive that much heat for longer than a few minutes? how much steam would have been boiled off the water within the container and placed under pressure within this system as designed? what was the representative neutron flow from the fusion process?

way to many holes to be even remotely considered confirmed as anything other than a large con. the bigger the lie, the easier it tends to be to swallow.
