An idea to "nerf" sov grinding

Ladies!! Lol

I have an idea to somewhat "nerf" sov grinding in 0.0 space. This is just an idea like that and I would like to see how easy it could be for some of you guys to kill it in a fire (constructively of course). If it is good, ok fine. But if it is bad, I want you to tell me why. If it survives you guys, then maybe CCP could consider this idea as a basis to lower sov grinding in null.

So...Sov grinding is apparently tedious and boring. What if the game would be in such a way that, each sov holding alliance would need to name one (and only one) of its systems, as its capital? From that system, each online structures owned by your alliance and within a determined range (lets say 10 jumps) from your capital, these structures`s ability of going into reinforced mode would work as it currently does in the game (structure has to be strunted of course). This would be a capital`s 1st level of influence.

Now this is where it gets interesting. A capital would have a 2nd lvl of influence that has a bigger range then the 1st lvl (lets say twice the range). ALL structures (including yours) located in that 2nd ring of influence (except those in a system set as capital), even strunted, would not be able to go into reinforce mode (they blow up or are conquered in one single event). This, by the way, would also affect structures of alliances that are set blue to you!!!

Now couple this idea with a nerf to blue listing, and you might have a good basis for a more vibrant null sec.

I wrote this from work during my lunch time so I did not have the chance to elaborate more or cover all kind of eventualities (their are surely things that I might have missed that could make the game worse)

But anyways, lets see what you guys can do with this.

Flame on!!!....Make me feel bad!! Big smile

The problem isn't "sov grinding", but the distance of a capital jump. Bring them down to where they were, and it all will became more structured. Much more.

I agree with you on that. But I hope you understood that I am not talking about capitals as in ships. I am talking about capitals as in systems. Like Goons`s capital could be VFK.

the problem is that this would be manipulated; instead of Goonswarm Federation, you'd have GSF1 GSF2 GSF3 all 15 jumps apart and they'd all have 1st level influence on all of their systems.

hmmm your right..!! How about, the structures within the range of the 1st ring of influence of its capital...looses its ability to go in reinforce mode when within range of other alliances 2nd ring of influence? Only the capital itself would remain immuned. I guess this would fix it.

Arbitrary restrictions introduced to make broken mechanics work just won't work.
